This.

Fox played almost 200 snaps more than YGM but only had 1 FF, 1.5 sack, 34 combined tackled, 2 TFL, and 2 QB Hits.

Yetur, on the other hand, had 1 PD, 1 FF, 3.5 sacks, 28 combined tackles, 5 TFL, and 4 QB Hits.

I have similar worries that this signing is not very likely to be as effective as we want. Still, we are perilously thin on the DL and he is immediately the most experienced player we have in that unit.

I don't hate the move. Something had to be done.

Eagerly awaiting details on the deal on my end. If the pay is reasonable, then the move makes even more sense.

If they're paying him what they paid Fox tho... ew.

Agreed. If we blew money on a guy like that, it makes very little sense. That would lean too much "win now, fug the future."

Which I understand that from a coach/GM that is about to get fired. Hence why I never like the coach being a GM.

We need to see improvements from Brown, YGM, Roy, McCall, Hoskins etc. If we don't see that, we are gonna be fuged regardless.

The decision to move on has been great, the replacements not so much. What I was getting at was that you brought up the fact that we traded Perryman to the Raiders like it was a bad decision. At the time it wasn't.

It wasn't a bad decision? What was the line from Rhule when the move was made. That he wasn't a "fit"? He got a speeding ticket big whoop. Shi Smith got arrested and he turned it around. It fits a pattern of overall impatience with this regime which ironically enough that same impatience has cost us significantly in both draft capital and salary cap space with various decisions. At the end of the day people who want to excuse it will do so and if that's the case here that's your prerogative.

We basically flipped Perryman for Cade Mays (the 199th OVR pick we got from the Raiders).  Very much TBD whether that was a good or bad decision.  Personally, I'd rather have a promising rookie OL prospect on a cheap contract for the next 4 years, but if you'd prefer an oft-injured 29 year old LB who, best case scenario, would've resulted in one or two more wins for our team and simply hurt our draft position during an uncompetitive rebuilding year...then like that's your prerogative bro.

This is what you said in this thread(https://www.carolinahuddle.com/topic/171345-panthers-are-trading-lb-denzel-perryman-to-the-las-vegas-raiders/?&page=9#comments) on Page 9 about the trade:

I will say it is refreshing this new regime is not afraid to move on quickly in situations like this. On the flip side though I hope this is a learning experience bc there were red flags from the beginning the Chargers let him walk for a reason.

As you look through that entire 18 page thread, everyone was ecstatic including the people that are very critical of Rhule. Your previous comments made it seem like we should have never traded him at all because he made the pro-bowl.

He agreed with the decision last year with us trading Perryman.

From "it is refreshing this new regime is not afraid to move on quickly" to "it fits a pattern of overall impatience with this regime" is such a wild 180 lol.

Oh we're digging up the old threads now. You know it almost sounds like "we" even myself included gave Rhule the benefit of the doubt at that time. But last I checked though the record reflects a 5 win season and some decisions we may have looked at one way back then looking different now. You choose to view this through a lens to direct criticism back at me instead of correctly assessing the move with the benefit of time. And yes we got Cade Mays but we didn't need that pick from the Raiders to accomplish that he was a 6th round pick.

You only see this as a quick chance to score points because you have always carried water for him and got your feelings hurt in past threads. While all it does is show at one point I was very pro Rhule and not one of these dreaded "haters" you huff and puff about in every thread that has any level of criticism about Matt Rhule. The 2020 season did show some definitive promise. And in so looking at his way of doing things like dumping Teddy and players like Perryman sounded good but it eventually became a matter of is this guy operating with a real plan or any kind of framework or is he just throwing poo at the wall hoping something sticks. As of now it is looking like the latter. If you're arguing otherwise stand by that.

Right. Rhule sold us Jermaine Carter as making Perryman expendable. That was not the case.

    • I have no clue how much he will be on the field. I hope he plays well and doesn't get injured. Keep in mind that rookie rbs are typically hampered by struggling a bit with pass protection assignments. It seems it is a bit more of an adjustment from the college game.
