I'm honestly not sure how I'd feel as a parent about my kid getting clocked by grown men in mascot costumes

Some years back, I was part of a youth thing where we'd always finish up with a tackle football game between the fathers and the sons.

We referred to it as "parents revenge", but depending on the size of the kid that wasn't always an accurate description

How is that even possible without fundamentally impacting how defense is played and tipping things majorly towards the offense?

That’s going to have refs totally destroy games.  Their targeting rule already was getting bonkers.   Kicking kids out of entire games for hits that simply are going to happen and the defender has no realistic action to avoid.
