Name a team with a winning record that has only 1 good WR.

I tried. I don't think our receivers are as bad as people make them out to be. Check out the Vikings last year. All they needed as a quality QB and now Sidney Rice is breaking out. We get a quality QB and give guys like Barnidge, Jarrett, and Moore an actual chance and we might be singing a different tune.

Exactly. Players like Brett Favre can make an offense better. The Vikings would be terrible if they still had Tarvaris Jackson at QB.

when you see the broncos you see a team very similar to ours..a game managing QB, one great reciever a good Oline and a decent defense...the difference is the broncos QB doesnt lose them the games that delhomme does...that is the difference...that is what the focus should be on!!

btw...WR isn't the problem. we have plenty of decent receiving options. we just don't have a QB or play-calling that utilizes them appropriately.

smith, moose, moore, jarrett, goodson, sutton, williams, stewart, hoover (fiammetta could given more of a chance, imo), barnidge, king, rosario....you get 4 or 5 of these guys used consistently in a game, spreading the ball around early and often, and can get the ball to them and you have a trip to the playoffs...esp. when you have our run game.

So I said one GOOD WR. So those other teams with winning records, the other WR's are NOT any good? I mean like unable to get open bad? Not able to shake your defender or run deep routes and stay in the next play.

Yes some of those teams have outstanding TE's. But they have more than solid WR's.

I'd take Orton over Delhomme any day

that said, McDaniels is > Fox on Offensive play calling

easy to gamplan against the panthers because you have a QB who is inaccurate and who is going to focus in on only one or two WRs the whole game and you know exactly who they are.

the panthers are easy to plan for because the playcalling is horrible and doesn't take advantage of the strengths that are available.

it isn't because of the receivers. it's because of the QB and the playcalling.

clear?

One thing to consider that has probably been said somewhere, sometime:

If we had a quick release-big arm QB with our current squad, Rosario and Gary B would be tearing it up. They could pretty much play the Owen Daniels/Dallas Clark role very well and they are young.

But to just throw this out there for the 5th year running: It would be nice to have a legit number 2 WR.

I got 1 for ya...

How many winning teams have a QB that averages over 2 turnovers a game?

My point being QB is goal #1, 2 great WRs is completely useless until we get a real QB and not some half assed reject.

The chances of both big problem positions being addressed accurately, and appropriately before the next seasons is unlikley. Especially when no one knows if Fox will still be making the decisions.
