Yea the drugs are really a territorial thing, like most cities. I lived in North Austin and worked downtown, didn't see many meth zombies out. I was born in Gonzales.. been to New B a few times growing up. Austin definitely isn't a bad place to visit, just not live. San Antonio or Houston offer a better bang for the buck if you want to detour to a bigger city when visiting, though.

No problem.

West hills burbs are just like burbs anywhere and low crime. Depends on the part of the city like most places.

New Braunfels and Austin are very different places and well over an hour away from each other. 6th St is garbage. There's a ton of great places to go if you stay away from the obvious tourist spots.

You prefer Tyler TX over Austin?? Haha oh man that is hilarious, I was just there two weekends ago. Tyler sucks except for Stanley's BBQ.

I just seen where theres a Narcan free vending machine was installed on the street. *In austin

If youre up to it, please gimmie a few places to visit. I may visit in the winter fyi. Shes on my nuts about it. Ive already been the river walk, while I was a teen 20 years ago. Dont know if its changed, I know its open carry there.

I was at a restaurant in Lakeway (west Austin) yesterday when the bartender got excited to see I was wearing a Panthers shirt.  After talking about the team he mentions that his mother used to babysit Baker.  If Mayfield plays well and we win a few, there will be a lot of Panther fans in Austin.

Riverwalk is in San Antonio, it’s closer to New Braunfels than Austin.

Not sure what you’re into but I’ll make some winter friendly suggestions.

My advice is to just make a plan beforehand and you’ll have a good time. Yea there’s some scummy areas but it’s a major city like any other. There’s places to stay away from and 6th St. after midnight is one of them.

Winter around Christmas time is the best time to visit when the weather is mild (most of the time) and all the students are gone. Pick out a concert to go to, the Moody Amphitheater is nice but I don’t know what their schedule will be like in the winter since it’s outside. There’s a nice little park attached to it too. The new Moody Center is a world class listening room though, top notch sound. That’ll have bigger national acts.

Find a nice restaurant to go to before a show, and maybe a bar to have a nightcap at afterward. Go walk around on South Congress or dance at the Broken Spoke as some other options.

If you can’t come to Austin and manage to have a good time it’s really on the person, because it’s a fun town.

You’re welcome. But I do wonder if you’ve actually been to Austin because the Alamo is in San Antonio too 😂

Ive never been.

I think thats the other poster, he also lived there.

Many moons ago I looked at the map and with my sister living in new braunfels, thought that close enough to visit austin. Hell that was before half of CA moved there. Im still willing to visit cause young CA women could make me dive in a active volcano....

I need to visit the texas A&m, both her kids are going there too. Got a nice pad on the lake....

    • We could easily pick apart yesterday’s game: dropped passes, blown coverages, bad tackling and red zone issues to name a few. But it was clear that this wasn’t the same team from earlier in the season. They fought back and hung with the champs until the end. That’s what I was excited to see and it gives me hope that we’re on the right track.
    • I think BY played well today and exceeded expectations. I will temper future expectations as he has to string together many games of consistent quality. One game doesn’t convince me that he is a franchise QB or even a guy you want to stick with for another season. One game doesn’t erase all the negative play and limitations from the past couple of years. I hope he balls out and continues to get better but for me the verdict is still out   That said, I think he gave the team and fans hope yesterday which is a lot more than what we had when we woke up Sunday morning.
    • He was vastly improved today and we need to see more of Bryce the rest of the season to continue evaluate him in order to decide what the heck to do with him at the end of the season. He must play at least like this and improve more from here the rest of the season in order for me to keep him. No more 123 yard passing games and want to see at least this output weekly from him. If this is Bruce improving slowly over time then Canales is even better with developing QB's than I thought he was but still too early to tell and we need to see him the rest of the way as he has at very least earned back the starting gig moving forward.
