Center now an area of concern?

Bozeman was supposed to be our starter(in theory) but now dinged up.

Elflein looks like garbage(again).

Is this our biggest area of concern heading into the season at the moment?

Should we consider dumpster diving to shore up the position?

What say ye?

Yes we need someone serviceable.

I hope Bozeman can be that dude or maybe Mays plays well early. I just know Elflein is probably gonna get schooled most of the year if we attempt that.

I don't have this faith that some do that we are suddenly an elite IOL and that will make up for a weak player or two.

I view our IOL as almost all questionable so any mistakes are more likely to get magnified than covered.

Would love to be wrong but I don't have a good feeling about that unit.

Mays would be the perfect solution but then we'd need Corbett or BC to make all the line calls

Yeah and that's a great example of what I mean. People look at these FA and draft moves on paper and assume it is all fixed. I don't see that. We didn't get a pile of All-Pro/Pro Bowl caliber, experienced vets nor a pile of blue chip prospects(save Ekwonu). We got some some guys that might work out or they might not.

That's another reason why these stupid "competitions" were so angering. If you knew largely what the lineup was going to be(and supposedly they did) why the fug are you not getting the maximum amount of reps as a UNIT to get their chemistry dialed in and figure out the strengths and weaknesses as a unit.

You have all fuging season to adjust personnel if someone isn't cutting it. You have limited amounts of reps to get a unit ready for the season. It's insanely shortsighted.

Against the schedule we have.... ? Rhule should get another year if this team gets to the playoffs. I think we have a better year, but I dont think we are in the playoffs.

Well why should he get another year? What NFL coach has had three straight losing seasons to start their career and then suddenly built a contending team?

Center has been a problem since Kalil left and I've been saying we needed to drop a high draft pick on one since then. It has been glaringly obvious that the line isn't just bad but is in dire need of a smart leader who can make protection calls and bring the unit together.

This concept is completely foreign to the Rhule Regime. Somehow.

Hopefully Bozeman can get back on the field and maybe he can do the job. I do have my worries that Baltimore did to us with Bozeman what Denver did to us with Paradis, all the while laughing that we bought yet another lemon from the used car lot.

I'm still holding out some hope for Bozeman, but if he isn't the guy, then bring Mays over and put him to work with on the job training.

i dont think in the scenario I just described he would have 3 straight losing seasons..? I believe I just stated if he got the team to playoffs this year with the schedule we have.... he should get a 4th year.. I dont think you can get to the playoffs this year with a losing record.

At least we aren't heavily invested in Bozeman.

He seemed to be pretty good for Baltimore but it was VERY strange to get him at the discount bin price we did. That did give me pause.

Me, too. Me, too.

If this one doesn't work out, though, we need to draft center first next season. We'll never be able to coach up a franchise QB if he doesn't have a center that he can depend on.

    • The other draft picks have turned out pretty well. Brooks will too.
    • I'm still not touching Hunter He again said the other day that he plans on playing both sides of the ball in the NFL.  If he is allowed to do that, he won't be as good on either side as his potential and he's going to have serious injury issues and have a short career.  If he's not allowed to do it, I think he's going to become a problem when the team isn't winning as he's going to feel him not being used on both sides of the ball is why. He's being coddled in that environment with Deion and I think it's doing a disservice to him to prepare him for life in the NFL where your coach isn't a 2nd father to you, to where you can just walk into his locker room and steal his shoes like Hunter does to Deion.
    • He’s a tad behind them. Around 15ish of 32 starters in the league. He’s well ahead of a lot of guys. Tua, Bryce, Cousins (present), Rodgers (current), Devito/Jones, Minshew, Russ (current), Watson, Smith, Carr, T Laws deep ball is weak as poo IMO, there’s plenty. And it’s not like everyone is ripping 60+ers. The key component is if you can rip and maintain velocity of the 30-40 yarders which he does super well. Legit every report out there from Brugler to PFF to PFN document him as good/above average arm strength.  Eye test tells me it’s pretty much that as well, slightly above average.
