The only reason I know this whole competition thing is done is that even when Baker has a so-so/bad day Darnold finds a way to have his “Hold my beer” moment.

The QB competition has been over since Baker was announced starter for preseason game 1. You can tell by today's snap count, this is no longer a competition. Sam is the backup QB.

We're all over it. I'm cool with Darnold as the backup or getting rid of him. Whatever. This season hinges on Baker, seriously.

Give him a chance to cook. If he fails, it's on to Corral and/or 2023 anyway.

Everybody saying the QB competition is over. Incoming huddle meltdown when darnold starts with the 1s tomorrow 🤣

That's kind of the thing though.

The competition really may be over (or at least should be) but practice reps are still being devoted to it.

It's kinda stupid.

Today's practice was not indicative of that though. Mac and Baker pretty had the same reps, and the same with Sam and Hoyer. Zappe/PJ/Corral were limited today.

Baker was treated like the #1 today, reps included.

    • I may be in the minority, but I'm not convinced that we have no chance of making the playoffs this season. We're not making a Super Bowl in 2025. We can all agree on that. But then again, only 2 teams make it there each season. We only need to win our division to make the playoffs. The NFC South is not the AFC West, the NFC East, or the NFC North. I doubt we'll see 2 teams from the South make the playoffs. If we are able to field a middle of the road defense in 2025...and Bryce continues to show improvement like he did at the end of the year... I think we have just as much of a chance of winning the division as Atlanta, New Orleans, or Tampa Bay. None of the former teams are juggernauts or considered to be a threat to win the NFC this season.
    • Yeah my guess too - so 8 and 111 for 11 and 43.   I also have a hard time seeing Grant lasting that long - T Sweat did, but dropped bc of character concerns.  From a write up and prospect spotlight standpoint this is nice, but from a predictive side, not so sure.
