So, to clarify, according to your sources, Darnold is leading the competition? And it's based on turnovers? I might be wrong, but Darnold has thrown more INTs in camp than Mayfield, last count at the end of TC.

Take it with a gain of salt. I guess we will see if he's right.

I'm not a 100% sure who does exactly what, so I can only give my opinion. But my fact is: I'm hoping that the best players play and we are a much approved team...

Yeah, none of us know the truth or even very much of the full picture.

I am gleaning my opinion based on what Rhule shows the public, which doesn't have a solid track record of being accurate either.

Either way, I hope by some miracle he suddenly becomes not a shitty coach and we can get back to not being a laughingstock franchise.

Sadly, I don't have a LOT of hope about that.

Rhule gonna Rhule.

This is how I go about viewing things.

I mean, take camp and preseason.  Rhule brings in a clear cut improved C and QB.  But we aren't even in Wofford anymore and he is still acting like it is a heated contest.   You got to Rhule everything up as you go about predicting things on a Matt Rhule lead team.

And not only is Matt an in over his head HC but he is now a hot seat version of it.  So I think it increases his odds of more poor decision making.

I'd like to think he would be improving.  But nothing about this camp seems to suggest Matt Rhule can get out of his own way.  But I clearly say that as a guy who Rhule 100% lost last season.  I still think it is understated how bad last season was.  And I do think Rhule has Urban to thank for that.   If not for Urban, Rhule gets more attention.

I love football too but that doesn't make me qualified to be a NFL head coach.

Reminds me of Richardson's response when asked about Sherrod Martin circa 2012:

"I think he plays safety."

This is the textbook definition of a clown show

The sad thing is, our roster actually is pretty decent on paper.  Baker, CMC, RA, DJ with Icky, BC, Bozeman, Corbett, and Moton is a decent offense assuming Shi, TMJ, and Tremble don't even take the next step.  We have what looks to be a great secondary on defense with some young talent on the DL.  I hope it all doesn't get wasted by Rhule's stupidity...

did you notice in Camp Confidential, Rhule opened up camp talking about how he and the team are looked as clowns.   That they might be laughed at or hear that Rhule is this.  Then goes on about his argument of how that totally isn't true.   I mean, I just thought that was a weird intro lol.

I've said before that David Tepper is aware of how people see him.

Looks like Matt Rhule is too.

Yeah I see already more coverage this year and I think this will be Rhules last here. Nothing about the start of this season has said we will improve much. Offense might be better but our defense could be giving up 25 to 30 points a game.

    • Strange, every news article and tweet I just searched all mentioned waivers. It is definitely his sixth year of at least 6 games. All I was trying to think of earlier was at the vet min could he beat out Bryce in camp next year lol. He's kinda got the old Darnold issue where he can obviously launch deep balls and qb run at a level Bryce will never achieve, but it sounds like he would be content being like a Josh Allen backup who doesn't throw the whole game plan out the window if he has to come in for a series or two. If we had him and for some reason still wanted to start Bryce he would kinda do what Justin Fields was doing the other night with Dangeruss, coming in for designed runs and maybe some play action/triple option rpo things to go deep. That would be so obvious and sad though. At least Russ can still sling it 40 yards in the air with a flick of the wrist
    • Too late to edit above but the quote is from this Diane Russini article in the Athletic: https://www.nytimes.com/athletic/5941684/2024/11/23/russinis-what-im-hearing-the-day-the-jets-fell-apart-and-the-broncos-rallied-belichick-best-fits/ Okay.. there you have sorry I left that out the first post.  Also waivers keep the contract intact. That is the major difference in released and waived. It's all in that link from the other post.
    • Okay so I am reading something in The Athletic and it says that Jones had to pass through waivers. So I don't know. I looked this stuff up when we were number one there all offseason and I thought it said 4 years in the league got you vested, as they call it.  Vested gets you out of waivers as I understood it. I probably got something wrong, but when I think about the slack quality of journalism these days I wonder about that. So I went and looked, again. Well, well.  For everyone: "When a player has accrued at least four seasons in the NFL, they are considered a vested veteran. When these vested veterans get cut, they are released and their contract is terminated. When a vested veteran is released, they are an unrestricted free agent that can sign with any NFL team, and the team that released them doesn’t need to provide any additional compensation." It runs it all down here, where the quotes came from: https://www.profootballnetwork.com/waived-vs-released-nfl/ As far as Jones, the team turned down his 5th year option so I knew that meant he had 4 years in, because they re-signed him anyway, after turning down the much cheaper extra year.  The Athletic is owned by the New York Times so I shouldn't be surprised. That paper was an institution once upon a time but they let their standards go.
