Rhule on practice reps

Corral was insurance in case we didn't get Baker and it was leverage to get a better price on Baker since drafting Corral meant we didn't need to trade for one.  When we got Baker that changed the urgency with Corral and made PJ totally expendable. He is only here to share reps in camp while Corral gets things down. From what Baker said this offense is complicated. Why is it hard to believe that Corral is struggling absorbing everything that even Baker said was tough.

Where else was Baker going to go? Let’s not pretend like Seattle, they obviously aren’t interested in adding a QB.

The whole leverage thing was BS coming from the media. Mayfield and the Browns relationship was fractured and the Browns were trying to sell him to us, we said no until the Browns had no choice but to give him away for free.

Additionally, how does Corral get up to speed with three reps a day in TC… I’m tired of repeating myself but I regress… Head ball coach Matt Rhule says you only get better with reps.

You’re acting like Corral is some sort of mental midget, there’s no reason for four QB’s to be on this roster. I wish Walker and Darnold nothing but the absolute best but this is a damn circus. I hope they go on to have great careers elsewhere but this is Mayfields team and when they aren’t pouring into him they need to be pouring into Corral.

If Mayfield goes down then we are fuged anyway and if by that point Corral still isn’t ready then call up one of the 30 other QB’s that are about to be out of a job in a couple of weeks.

You assume people are holding Corral back. What if he were having difficulty getting our complicated offense down.  Baker said it was different from what he has seen before and was more complicated.  Maybe he needs mostly mental reps. I really don't know but no one is going to say he is struggling.

Maybe he needs actual reps because he doesn't learn as well by reading it. I can read something 20 times and not understand, then put my hands on it once and never forget it. Not everyone learns the same way.

But we've all learned that Sam is not a starter and PJ isn't a capable backup. The only one who hasn't learned this is Rhay-Z.

You talking about the same folks that have Elflein over Bozeman? Or the guy who ranted all last season about Brady not having the tools to play LT and now putting him over Icky?  Or the guy who thought Teddy wouldn’t be a checkdown champion here or that Sam was worth making the biggest cap hit on our entire roster this year?

yeah, people are assuming Matt Rhule doesn’t have the best eye for things or plan.  Vegas assumes that too.

Obviously no one knows for sure what Tepper said but we know the official line of him supporting Rhule belied the narrative he was upset and embarrassed by his mistake in hiring Rhule and the poor results. The narrative has been that football guys came in who have head coach experience to fix the football side. Guys who have strong egos and lots of experience. Why bring them in and micromanage them. If you were McAdoo would you be OC if you couldn't design and run the offense. And Rhule would be a fool to try and overrule McAdoo especially when you have failed on your own the first 2 years.

Why did he bring them in? He was told he bring in an offensive Rockstar or he was fired. This wasn't a choice for Rhule, this was a demand.

The only way this is excusable is if it gets rectified after the game tape is viewed.

I kind of understand making people earn it, but it goes both ways. Elfline, Jordan, and Darnold earned demotions yesterday.

If you believe in the hierarchy and accountability, show them the tape, why the lost their spots and adjust the depth chart accordingly. Now is the time to do it. The competition charade should be a formality that ends quickly.

1. Is MC a bigger project then Malik Willis?

2. Can you provide an example of a qb that has been developed this way?

kthanks

I watched part of that game.  Willis was trying to do everything with his legs.  The difference between Willis and Corral.  Willis is getting valuable Reps with the offense.

Corral gets the last 5 minutes of practice because Rhule doesn't have anything else to work on.  As previously stated Rhule is treating Corral like he is redshirt freshman instead of the future of the franchise.

What is going to bite Rhule in the ass is when Darnold and Mayfield go down with injuries and we are forced to play Corral or someone off the streets.

If they do the former Corral will be ruined.  Corral will not be able to execute the offense from reading the playbook only.  HE HAS TO HAVE MEANINGFUL, VALUABLE REPS in practice.

yeah I didnt think you would answer

Why would I. Who says I would do things like McAdoo is doing or even agree. I can tell you the rationale without agreeing. Honestly we won't know if it is the best idea until things play out. I just wait to bitch until there is actually a reason. Unlike you who always has an opinion informed or not.

I mean what has Sam Darnold in a competition with Baker Mayfield to begin with is the question.

him having a spot as “co starter” is absurd to begin with.  A 19 yard preseason drive certainly doesn’t make this nonsense more legit.  Baker is simply a better QB than Sam.
