The HQ was a screw-up for sure, but everyone knows that if Tepper wants a grandiose facility for the Panthers, he'll get it in time. I don't see it as losing as much as I see it as learning the area and the culture before trying to do too much too soon. Some things just can't be rushed. He found that out with big plans for a facility, and he found it out with the team.

He has PLENTY of money. If he wanted his grandiose facility he could pay for it outright tomorrow. The reality is that he wants other folks to pay for it.

I don't think it's asking too much for the local government to invest in the infrastructure that that will directly act as their tax base. It was bonds for utility infrastructure that this whole fiasco was centered around after all.

Good on you getting up at the crack of dawn and sticking your neck out for that billionaire being bullied by the local government 🙄

Id say it's a little more than "things not going his way".

Tepper bragged about giving the Panthers "the best" in every area. This ginormous practice facility was gonna be a big part of that. Yet despite all the braggadocio and such, he couldn't get it done and we're back to practicing on average practice fields in Charlotte and having training camp in Spartanburg,

Even if he doesn't take a big financial loss on all this, when it comes to perception and image, there's pretty much no way he doesn't come out of this looking like a loser.

Right now, about the only legit claim he can make to improving the team is constructing the bubble over the practice fields.

You know how many building projects have been abandoned that began before 2020? Plenty of people here with a lot to say and no understanding of what exactly is going on in the real estate development world.

No argument there.

The only thing I'd mention is that he's not unlike so many other billionaires. For right now, it's the American way.

That's not even the point.

Tepper is where he is, and he's not hurting. He made the decision with full knowledge that it would end up here--even though he could've personally bankrolled the project--but he did what he did anyway. That's not actually being a "loser", it's exercising power.

The power to make money? Sure. Nobody denies Tepper has that.

But remember him telling us that the first, second and third things he cared about were all "winning"?

Yeah...I've yet to see any evidence that he has the power - or the knowledge of how - to do that which he claims is most important.

So I suppose if his actual goal is just to make money, then yes he's a winner.

If, however, he genuinely meant that part about wanting to build a great football team?

Not so much.

Does Tepper?

Evidence gathered to date would suggest the answer is "no".

hes new

all you can ask for is does the guy want to have the best of the best and win? imo the answer is yes.  we will eventually get there. He will learn.

id much rather have tepper than some old fart who sits on his hands as long as he has his good ol boy club.

some of yall are so quick to trash and discard. Im convinced that if yall were to make spaghetti yall would skip boiling the pasta and throw everything together in 60 seconds and then claim the meal sucks.
