"Bench Jake for Jake" campaign

good stuff man. i am not a jake supporter in the sense that i want him to continue playing for the Panthers, but i am a HUGE jake fan in the sense that i appreciate what he has done for this franchise. carolina wasn't on the map until the jake's heroics during the 2003 season and this fanbase owes him a hell of a lot more than they give him.

shame it's ending on such a sour note :(

I respect your opinion about him being a shot in the arm with enthusiasm for the franchise. It is just time for a change of leadership...plain and simple.

I have a unique insight into this situation, so allow me to give my view:

Jake needs to go back to Louisiana and enjoy the rest of his life with his $20 Million and raise his horses. He deserves it for how much he has contributed to this franchise, and for how much bullshit he has to put up with from the fans.

I, myself, was a leader of sorts in my high school marching band this past season. I was the Drum Major, also known as the director or conductor, and as the Drum Major, I had to be damn near perfect. If I screwed up, everyone screwed up and I caught hell for it. For much of the year, I made mistakes nearly every day, cause I'm human. So people would yell and cuss and talk about me behind my back. It made me angry when I would hear that, cause everyone talked as if I WANTED them to fail. As if I tried on a daily basis to set them up for failure, when in reality I gave 110% every day.

This experience, near the end of my tenure, I decided to step back and look at from a new perspective. I looked at Jake Delhomme's season so far, and my own experience at leading. I was surprised to notice that the two were nearly identical. So, from that point on, I was no longer so critical of Delhomme. After all, it's not like he WANTS the Panthers to fail. He gives 110% every day and busts his ass, and gets poo in return, which is really unfair.

However, this is no excuse. He is the QB of a Professional NFL Franchise, not some High School team from some no-name town in NC. Personally, people should allow him to finish the season as starter, give him his $20 Million, and send him on his way with a thank you and a smile. I don't know who will replace him, and I don't much care. Someone needs to do it, though. No more ignoring the giant pink elephant taking a dump in the middle of your living room carpet.

P.S. Things worked out for me in the end. I pulled it together in the final two weeks, and made 1st Place Drum major at our final competition. We made an 87.7 Superior, which, by the way, is really damn good. :D

I hope my experience helped some of you to understand a little deeper than the surface may show.

I don't remember that playoff game anymore. The AZ game from this season erased that from my mind. It was the only good game this entire season. I saw that 12-4 team from last season poke it's head out of the heap of poo it's been buried under during that game. It gave me false hopes for a run at the playoffs, which will not happen this season.

"Remember Arizona" lol

Jake's legacy is already ruined. I think John Fox is scum for putting Jake through that. Now, Jake's feats in Carolina have all been tarnished and will be questioned from years to come.

Ex. Old - Jake lead our team to the Super Bowl

New - Our team went to the Super Bowl in spite of Jake

I've already been hearing this for the past 2 years from my other friends. I will remember Jake as an overachieving back-up that happened to be clutch and a "leader". Average starter that played longer than he should.
