Of course, Jordan is our starting LG and Elf is our starting C---as of July 28 or so.

I think they are respecting the existing starters so that they give the appearance of competition.  I suppose that it is demoralizing to be a starter and have some free agent from another team come in and take your job without giving you the chance to fight to keep it.  Kind of a "king of the hill" thing--

By the first preseason game, our OL and QB should be set.

Have you watched a Rhule press conference yet? They haven’t even started doing any of that.

I don’t mind the competition between Baker & Darnold for a week or so, but we all know Baker will be QB1. Rhule needs to make a decision soon & let Baker go with the ones.

They need to let PJ go now. Let Matt take his reps. Find out what he has & see if surpasses Darnold as the backup.

I'm in the small minority that wants a fair competition and want to see what Sam can do with an improved OL and a competent Coordinator..

We already saw, he still checks down every opportunity he gets. It may have been one day, but it's one day that's a continuation of 4 years. Baker is looking to score, Sam is looking for a safety valve.

Give me BAKER. I didn't even fuging want Baker or the trade, I saw it as pointless. Yesterday opened my eyes to the difference between Sam and Baker. One will get CMC hurt again, one will actually allow CMC to run a route without having the ball thrown to him. Bakers ability to see the field and push the ball downfield also opens up the playbook whereas Sam's style contracts it.

Maybe I'm crazy but seems to me like we should want Sam getting reps in practice and in pre-season games hoping that he looks good enough and that he is legitimately competing closely with Baker so that maybe a QB desperate team will take Sam off of our hands. If you want to sell a car you don't park it in the garage.

I personally hope it is a competition.  I know it's popular opinion to poo on Sam, but I wouldn't be surprised to see Sam be much improved.

I can see a difference in his body while he is standing at the podium.  He has a good demeanor.  With an improved line he could have a big year if he wins out the competition.

I mean, I do agree with you about his demeanor, but I'm not getting excited over anything until the pads come on, there's contact, and there are 22 guys out there.

    • Well said.  we usually develop our opinions based on the websites we frequent, highlight reels, discussion boards, and NFL Network.  In that process, we call ourselves "informed," but we really are not.  Unfortunately, neither are the experts.  It still blows my mind that first rounders have successful careers 53% of the time, and second rounders are about half of that. So as hard as we (and they) pound the table for this player or that player, it is a crap shoot in the first round and in the second, it is worse than the odds playing craps in Vegas.  And they (the experts) have combines and pro days and interviews etc.  and they still suck at it. All that to say, I am wrong as much as the GMs are-that should make me feel good, but it does not.  You have to recall who you pounded the table for in the drafts four or five years ago and see where they are now. Acting like I know and they do not is stupid, so I hope that they see what I cannot.  I think the best chance of hitting a home run in round 1:  Jeanty.
    • I think i would be happy with 7 wins personally, at least I would know we going in the right direction
