Yeeeeahh...no.

Matt Rhule's history suggested to everyone that he'd get a little better in the second year, even better in the third year, and so on.

One of the guys who was said to be expecting that second year Improvement was David Tepper. And per reports, he wound up embarrassed and disappointed by last year's results.

Truth be told though, Rhule's resume' doesn't actually predict a championship timeline because well...he's never won one.

The whole point of training camp and off-season is to get fans excited and get their hopes up so comes first game of the season each team fans will think they have a shot at the Super Bowl.  NFL actually does study and uses technique to get into fans head because they tend to spend a lot of money during that window on merchandise.  Some fans see thru this bullshit while others eat it up and beg for more.  Then they go into meltdown after 5th games of the season when reality sets in.  Then the following season they get manipulated again… and again.

People say that, but is it true? We were ranked in the low 20s for rushing and passing from what I found. 

I began checking different stats (like 3rd down efficiency), and I was surprised quite frankly. I mean sure, we could have more INTs (we were like 6th from the bottom). And Red zone efficiency (TDs only) was near the bottom (29th), but you can't look at all of this stuff in a vacuum.

If Rhule is referring to average defensive starting position, he is wrong to say its the worst in 5 years.  The Bears were worse in 2019.  

The RZ stat, is a little arbitrary.   A TD scored on a play from the 21 is worth the same a TD scored from the 19.  We were the same as the Packers and better than Vegas in that stat, near the bottom of the league.

More importantly, we allowed a TD on 23% of all drives against us, which puts us at 12th in the league. 

We improved from 2020 but there's plenty of room for more improvement.

It's easy enough to find out if someone doesn't have what it takes. So it wasn't about getting better or not getting better this past year, it was about Joe Brady not having enough experience for the next three years. So cut bait now and grow the program with someone else.

Yards per play is the Stat you wanna lead in I would guess. That way how bad your offense sucks won't skew it as much.
