I’m expecting Dayvion Nixon to eventually fill the other DT spot. We’ve got decent enough depth to at least have a decent run defense this season.

I want Dayron Payne next year to match up w him next year. We won't be spending any money on the dline anytime soon except for Burns and the Commanders paid Allen and cant afford him. Teams have already reached out, but he will likely be expensive.

I agree with you but he wasn’t behind TD as much as the starter who left the field when the 5th DB came on. He played a lot, but TD leaving helped his stats and perceived talent a ton.

Thank you for the correction mate, just tried to help explain why he saw the field as little as he did with his talent.

For being a top 10 pick - productivity hasn’t matched the draft slot. It is what it is.

I agree with that, but it doesn't make him a bust. He's still a decent starter. Not even mentioning the fact that I don't think you can call someone a bust after 2 years.

You clearly have a misunderstanding of the NFL draft, more then half of first round picks don’t get second contracts from their original team. Shaq was a very late first round pick, who was stuck behind one of the greatest linebackers of all time, and Thomas Davis to start his career. Shaq was a very solid late first round pick, is Shaqs contract the best? No, but he still returns value as our best linebacker/leader so his contract is not absurd.

Thats about the best way to describe Shaq is solid. All you guys saying he is a beast or a stud are off base. He is a solid starter, that is about it.

Absolutely not, he's exactly who he is when we drafted him. A big run stuffer who doesn't have much of a pass rush ability. That kind of DT is never a top 20 pick but we reached a bit there due to fit and need matching up there. If you expected him to be a pass rushing beast and a complete force against the run then you set yourself up for failure the night we drafted him. He is who he is, had somewhat of a disappointing year 2 vs year 1 but he's been fine.

What are you talking about. He was a beast of pass rusher at Auburn. I’m an Aurburn fan and can tell you he killed it there. He could do it all. For some reason, with panthers, he hasn’t been good in either.

He has 11.5 sacks total across the 3 years he started. This is not some eye popping number, it was well known he did not have a versatile skill set when it came to rushing the QB in the draft. A lot of it was raw power that needed to be refined, like I said, he's still a good player.
