yup… what I’m referring to is do we know if he went out and searched for Glick? Or was this suggested by referral or sought out by his recruitment team?

We don’t know if he hand pick Glick. We do know that they have not worked together in the past and that tepper had an immediate appetite for pulling together a soccer club for Charlotte.

if his team served him glick based on their discussions and interview process, then we can’t say tepper hand picked him. There is a process to all hires, and we can’t 100% confidently say “glick was tepper’s guy” without insight into their hiring and recruitment process

he had history with Hart bc they worked together in Pittsburgh. So you can argue that he hand picked Mike hart

Excellent post 🫵.

That said, Tepper never had any "work" role in Pittsburgh just as Elliot Close as a 5% Panthers owner had no operating role whatsoever...

...5% owners are just along for the ride.

Obviously the access afforded by 5% owners likely gave Tepper an avenue to get to know certain Steelers exec's but Tepper lived and worked in NJ/NY and it's unlikely he really spent much time hanging around the halls at Steelers HQ 🤙.

The real question is how tepper gets any work done with you glued to his hip all day

I’m on vacation this week and been drinking all day, need a little wiggle room on names.

also, if you think tepper went out and searched for Glick all by himself… then you are very disconnected from how agencies like TSE find their talent.  Calling my suggestion a huge stretch is a stretch in itself. Why would tepper spend weeks by himself searching for someone when he could hire professionals who are good at it to do it for him? That doesn’t sound very billionaire like….

Even if that scenario is true, who made the final decision?

For that matter, if Tepper has other people making those decisions, and those people are doing their jobs poorly, it's still ultimately falls on him.

He's the guy at the top, so the buck stops at his desk.

The bottom line here is that you're strangly looking for some kind of circumstance that absolves Tepper from blame for bad hires. Don't know why, but that's your thing right now.

Are you planning to apply the same method to clear Tepper of blame for hiring Matt Rhule?

maybe the billionaire should of taken your advice when he was head coach searching.  But instead it was just him Marty Hurney rushing and then doing a complete brain dead contract on top of that lol.   Then let him bring in an all college staff lol.

I mean, Tepper could of used google and done a better job when it came to that hire and all that went into it.

The part in bold I agree with and I alluded to in my previous posts.

Tepper is accountable for everything that happens at TSE and BoA… there is no denying that. I’m not absolving Tepper. I am adding the perspective that he didn’t make this decisions in isolation and that it’s very possible that the people he has hired came highly recommended. That’s it.

please stop using your hate for Rhule and tepper to create a narrative that I’m “absolving” tepper. I have denied that multiple times already and attempted to explain myself, but you seem to be stuck on the notion that I am protecting tepper. From my experience working with TSE … Tepper isn’t as close as people perceive and portray here.  That’s it.

i think any continuation of this conversation is just going to be a circle jerk.

Ah yes, the "you just hate them" argument.

Congrats. You've managed to place yourself on par with Sizzlebuzz.

As far as how your arguments read, pretty sure I'm not the only one interpreting it as defending Tepper. But I suppose you'll say the others just "hate" him as well.

You’ve openly stated that you despise Rhule and tepper. If you don’t then I recant my sbove statement. You are really trying to turn this convo into a thing.

I’m moving on from this.

I've never openly stated any such thing.

I think both of them are terrible at their jobs, but as I've stated many times being terrible at your job is not a reason to hate someone.

Okay - bc its been five minutes and I can’t edit my above post… correction to my word usage of hate to “despise” or “dislike” or anything synonymous with how you feel about them.

Whatever's synonymous with "think he's a terrible owner".

No personal feelings involved...

I some elsewhere that they basically kicked out a flea market and neighboring skate park for this development. That in itself is super lame

The city did A while ago it just wasn’t being enforced. That’s why it’s become a hot topic at city Council meetings now trying to find them somewhere to go this is more political than anything.

    • Same... With the personnel the Niners had, that defense could have been historically good in the right hands. Under Wilks they were certainly good, they didn't quite rise to that level. Honestly, I see Wilks kinda like I see Rivera: fantastic person, decent head coach. Skill wise, phenomenal DB coach, so-so DC. His greatest strength is his leadership. Hard to find many better in that department. In the Xs and Os / execution area though, not as good. Bottom Line: Wilks is the sort of coach that needs a staff that excels in those aspects of the game where he's weaker. But, like Rivera, I don't know that he scouts assistants very well. That as much as anything might be why he's not in the NFL now.
    • Clearly the best outcome for us is a Giants W. A spot or two difference in the 4th round is inconsequential. Just look at the trade value charts. A spot or two at the top of the 1st means a LOT. A spot or two in the mid-rounds? Virtually nothing.
    • Agree. I don't think I have ever heard him say anything positive, at any time, about the Panthers. Best expectation is no mention at all.
