Exactly. Thats why we need to see what we have in him before the loaded 2023 QB draft. Its the smart thing to do, but not what we will do. We will likely play Mayfield. Get 8-9 wins, barely miss the playoffs and be in no mans land again next year. We already know what Sam and Baker are. Its pointless to start either. Neither are franchise guys.

Sam we know but Baker (when healthy) is a bit of a wildcard. He's basically a stronger version of Sam...head and shoulders. He dosen't panic nearly as much, and his field vision and ability to read the defense is superior imo. 2021 injured Baker is even an upgrade to Darnold. Now if 2020 Baker hits our field, we'll be really fuggin hard to beat. We still have to prepare for the worst though.

Question is if Baker, Sam, and Corral are our starting QBs in that order on the depth chart when do you see Rhule throwing in Corral?

With the added playoff teams, if we end up with 7-8 wins we could still be in the wildcard discussion by end of the season.

I don't see Rhule playing Corral if Baker  has us in that position. I think it's truly a redshirt season for Corral unless one of the four occur:

A. He dominates training camp and preseason by a country mile. Even then I dont have faith in Rhule to make the right call.

B. Injuries forcing the hand

C. We are trash and he's the last resort.

D. Put him in when we're mathematically eliminated(but then do you have a large enough sample size to judge by this point)

Lol our coaching staff didnt even have enough sense to start Christensen and Brown when it was beyond obvious to everyone.  They waited until the point they couldn't properly evaluate the talent and then questioned the late response later.

As for QB play, a healthy and motivated Baker playing for a contract is going to be hard to beat in camp. AND we're basically paying another guy 19 million to be a backup. That's crazy.

We're just in a bad QB spot. Hypothetically, Baker could suprise and get us 10-11 wins then decline to resign here lol.

Sam could get us to the NFC championship game and I'd still be hesitant to resign him.

I think Corral might be the answer but he'll need time to get fully acclimated. Which is not good when you have an overactive coach and impatient owner.

I just hope we dont get stuck with Rhule for three more seasons starting yet another trio of different QBs each yr.

LOLOLOL why do we keep saying Baker was soooo injured last year??? He had a "slightly" torn labrum on his non throwing shoulder. It would hardly effect him at all, but a little bit of pain.... you know how many players play through that and get the minor surgery at the end of the year? Heck my best friend in high school did and he hardly noticed it.... plus it was Bakers NON throwing shoulder. Sure its not fun to play with, but its not that bad at all and hardly effected his throwing.

The speculation about the severity of Browns quarterback Baker Mayfield’s injured shoulder just amped up to another level. FOX Sports’ Jay Glazer reports that Mayfield has a fractured humerus bone in his left arm in addition to the torn labrum on the left (non-throwing) shoulder.

Notes: Baker Mayfield day to day with knee bruise and further damage ruled out

Mayfield's down year can be attributed to the growling list of injuries he continues to play through that include a torn labrum in his shoulder, bone bruise on his knee and a bruised heel

And still he had 8 more touchdowns than Sam.  How many games did we lose by one score?

You clearly haven't paid close attention to any of the explanations of how it affected his throwing. A little bit of effort om your part would prevent many of your uninformed stances

Articles like this aren't hard to find but it requires you to try.

Im not even a big Baker fan but don't be so boastful of your ignorance

And, yes you are a HUGE Baker fan or you wouldn't have commented his excuses.

I took liberty with your post, and showed you how easily you could be speaking of Baker Mayfield.

Mayfield's attitude has been cited as a reason the Browns axed him. McAdoo's firing had reasons beyond actual football reasons as well.

If you can give Mayfield grace who was effectively fired from his QB1 job by the Browns, then you can give McAdoo grace for being fired as the HC from the Giants. He is no less of a potential successful OC of the Panthers than Mayfield is a potential successful QB of the Panthers.

This is stretching towards mental illness, TBQH.

How you felt the need to make this about Baker Mayfield just shows how much space he has in your head at the moment.

    • The agenda was building around Bryce.  2 WR, 3 olinemen, TE, and a potentially elite RB.  I stood up for Bryce all last year because I didn't think you could evaluate him properly with what we had last year in coaching, play calling and personal.  Bryce was the 2nd least pressured QB in the last 2 weeks because of the money Morgan spent on the line.  Despite Bryce looking horrible I'd say Morgan has had an exceptional beginning as GM. Here some more things I liked. Trevin Wallace looked like a banger in preseason.  Resigned Brown.  Gave Horn his 5th year option and Horn is playing very well. *Flipped a 7th round pick for a starting CB in Michael Jackson who has also played well. Filled a depleted roster with solid vets and if you really look at the cap this is a 2 year play.  Almost everyone except the 2 elite guards signed a 2 year deal. Did not pay Stephen Gilmore 10 million for one season. *Got the 0-2 Rams 2nd pick next year. Set a culture and tone of the type of players we want.  *Dawgs. *Elite GM moves.
