The most key addition may be McAdoo.

McAdoo and Corral, that's what needs to happen before seasons end to finally turn the page on all the damn losing in a lasting way. Not a drop in the bucket guy like Teddy, Sam or Baker. The insanity needs to stop.

It's cute that you guys love a good ol' Goodwill sweater. Baker is just OK and he's new to the team, the offense, and the public at large want Corral. Not some Dollar Store Dave sweater everyone else passed over. You can rock that but the new swag is out. His name is Golden Corral.

Stop all the posturing welcome him physically and financially. Yeah he dropped but like Aaron Rodgers he was blindsided. That was a huge financial hit for a guy who was QB1 of the SEC 2021.

Show some Love put some sugar on my boy's contract and Let's Go!

This has been discussed ad nauseam in this forum.

His successes are as glaring as his failures. Also he has the major red flag of not being wanted enough to invest in via trade by almost every NFL franchise for most of the of the 2022 offseason after being the Browns QB1 for nearly four seasons, which is a giant red flag...

Ultimately, TBD how it works out. I suspect anyone believing he will be some sort of savior is going to be sorely disappointed. That said, I would imagine he is an improvement over what we have had under Rhule.

I took liberty with your post, and showed you how easily you could be speaking of Baker Mayfield.

Mayfield's attitude has been cited as a reason the Browns axed him. McAdoo's firing had reasons beyond actual football reasons as well.

If you can give Mayfield grace who was effectively fired from his QB1 job by the Browns, then you can give McAdoo grace for being fired as the HC from the Giants. He is no less of a potential successful OC of the Panthers than Mayfield is a potential successful QB of the Panthers.

People may disagree about McAdoo's talent based upon his stint as HC, but as OC, he was pretty damned good. Some don't want to give McAdoo credit because he had OBJ (and Eli), but OBJ's best seasons (talking only the healthy ones) by an appreciable amount (of production) were under McAdoo. They were some of Eli's best as well. I suspect that some may be criminally overlooking the new OC, but I can easily see him having the most immediate, if not dramatic, impact on the 2022 season for not only what he will do for designing a game plan and making adjustments on game days, but the behind-the-scenes installation of an entirely new offense. Our passing game should benefit greatly (and apparently D.J. Moore agrees).

Adjustments, scoring in the redzone, 3rd and 4th Quarter will be a huge + to our offense.

There is a night and day difference between HC McAdoo and OC McAdoo.

Exhibit A: The 2015 Giants game, or better remembered as the Josh Norman/Odell game of our 15-1 season. Iirc, the giants came dangerously close to making that 15-1, either 14-1-1 or 14-2. By the 3rd quarter the score we were dominating the Giants to the tune of 35-7. By the end of the 4th the final score was 38-35 via a Gano FG with 2 seconds left.

If that was ANY indication he is undoubtedly the biggest sleep addition of the off season.

Side note: Rivera was also was known to take his foot off the gas. Still, against the defense we fielded that year it was very impressive nevertheless.

Good point OP

Its funny, Baker played an important role in taking the Browns to the playoffs after a long drought and they replaced him.

McAdoo to the Giants to the playoffs and they fired him the next year, and they haven't been back since McAdoo.

Yes, what do we have to lose? And, we need to see what we have in him before next years draft. We already know what Baker and Sam are..... Why not?

I'm not saying Corral shouldn't get a look but "the public at large"  certainly aren't clamoring for it...

I like the kid but he's a 3rd round pick after all...let's not get out over our skis here 🤙.

Exactly. Thats why we need to see what we have in him before the loaded 2023 QB draft. Its the smart thing to do, but not what we will do. We will likely play Mayfield. Get 8-9 wins, barely miss the playoffs and be in no mans land again next year. We already know what Sam and Baker are. Its pointless to start either. Neither are franchise guys.

Prepare yourself for disappointment...

...Big Baller Baker® is the starter, period.

Check that, prepare yourself to be impressed on the upside -- Big Baller Baker® is gonna grab this thing by the throat with Mackin' Big Ben® and set the situation on its ear in a great way!  🫵👊

Agreed. Always thought Ron was a fantastic person, but without Sean McDrermit he is and was trash. He is a good leader, but terrible x/o coach and terrible free agent/drafter.

The one thing I always liked about Rivera was that he, for the most part, let Cam be Cam. He didn't make excuses for him or his off field actions. A lot of head coaches would have tried to squash Cam's personality. As they have with Baker. I don't see how anyone who loved Cam (including me) can not also appreciate Baker's competitive fire and personality.

This would be a perfect scenario, IMO.  Mind you, I don't wish injury on anyone, but if it happens...it happens.  Baker starts the season, but ends up getting hurt giving way to Sam.  Darnold takes over and proves who we all think he is.  Darnold gets benched in favor of Corral the last few games.  Corral show promise but still needs time.  We let Darnold walk in FA, Baker can't get any traction in FA and we re-sign him on like a 2-3 year deal (3rd year voidable) on the cheap (for a starter) and draft a potential QB1 in the 2023 draft.  In two years we let Baker walk if he is indeed a JAG and we have two guys waiting in the wings learning from the sideline soaking up the nuances of the game at the NFL level.

Best case scenario is we have not 1, not 2, but potentially 3 guys that can be QB1s.  At that point the team holds many favorable cards and can retain, trade or get comp picks in FA later down the road.  My point, there would actually be options in this scenario and none of them are bad.
