MC9's skill set is greater than Baker's.

If in 2021 you told everybody that the Panthers would draft arguably the best QB in the SEC and instead of him playing like Mac or Zach they're signing a failed, flawed QB from a bottom feeder AGAIN to start while putting a guy who deserves his first chance on the bench in bubble wrap, people would say Rhule was nuts! Because having only played in the SEC, Corral isn't man enough to play day one in the NFL like Zach or Mac.

Foolishness.

Is Matt Corral better than Justin Fields?

Possibly, but we won't know until two years from now when Baker crashes out again.

In the name of McAdoo! Stop wasting our f'n time.

Let's go!

If Corral is great (and I hope he is), sitting for a while won’t hurt him. See Rodgers, Mahomes, Brady etc.  When he is ready his time will come.

Dude, I am not sure what you got into or if there is some specific Corral fan club you joined but that is the ravings of a lunatic.

Baker Mayfield DOES have one of the best arms in the NFL. That was his reputation coming in and it's a big reason why he went #1 overall. Disputing that only really serves to make you look foolish.

All that arm talent hasn't made Baker Mayfield an elite QB because that's not how the NFL works. It takes way more than just natural talent to be successful in the NFL. Right now, he hasn't shown he is an elite QB and it's very debatable if he is a starting QB in the NFL. This is his shot to prove he deserves more shots at even just being considered a starting caliber NFL QB.

Matt Corral is a decent mid-to late round talent. That's literally it. He doesn't have any specific elite attribute other than his quick release. He's not an elite athlete, he doesn't have an elite arm, he hasn't shown to be elite in terms of processing, etc, etc.

That also doesn't mean he can't be an elite QB or even just a starting QB in the NFL. That's not how this works. It's up to him to figure out how to put everything together and become an elite player, regardless of talent level.

But to claim he is some HOF caliber QB in the wings is INSANE. You are setting yourself up to look like a complete buffoon on a relatively long shot gamble.

It's a free country, so good luck with that but I don't think this is gonna end well for you in the long run.

I insinuated that he has high upside, and that if he can successfully make the transition that he will be special.  Don't be putting words in my mouth! You're either INSANE or just plain ignorant about Corral's skill set. He has high level traits, certainly more than you're giving him credit for. And yet, you speak of Mayfield like he's been an all-world type of QB when Kurt Warner explained to you how limited that he is. There are questions in Warner's mind whether Mayfield is even a franchise QB.

And Warner is hardly the only one that questions that. That's how Mayfield ended up here for a bag of peanuts.

You literally didn't read my post. It's PAINFULLY obvious by your response.

That's the problem. You aren't reading anything anyone is saying in this thread, you are just lashing out emotionally and repeating the same few lines over and over.

I have no idea what got you into this headspace on the Corral subject but it's fuging weird.

Corral could end up being better than Mayfield

But what is it that makes a great qb?  Is it physical talent?  While we can argue about who is more physically talented, the reality is that any qb at this level has a strong arm and a certain amount of accuracy.  Not all of them have great running ability, but that is not an absolute requirement.  It certainly helps, but some of the best to play the game are slow.

The skillset that makes a great NFL qb is the ability to make quick, accurate decisions and throws under intense pressure.  And there is no way to know if they can do that until they line up under center.  That is why the vast majority of college qb's fail in the NFL.  If Corral can do that, well then we made a great draft pick.  If not, well he might be able to hang on as a backup for us or some team.

Yeah, OK. Keep living in the past, because you obviously believe that the Browns--the Browns number 1 draft pick is the much-coveted Baker Mayfield of 2022! The cat's out the bag. There's NFL tape. There's a credible argument that he's entered bust territory based on what's transpired this offseason alone, regardless of this arm talent that you speak of. Sure, he can throw a long ball and is fairly accurate, but he hasn't met expectations.

Talking about not reading, you obviously haven't done any homework on Corral for you to be downplaying his arm talent or his athleticism. Go do your homework in between the sips of Mayfield Kool-Aid (year 2018); it has aged well.
