Probably attempting to acquire another number from a player on the team.

Also I think in preseason you can have some players wear the same number. Might be the way to go until after cuts. Walker most likely is gone and Baker can get his old high school number back if Hekker doesnt want to change.

Why hasn't there been a press conference yet?  We trade for the presumable starting QB and haven't heard a word from him via the team.

He's not official yet.

Person says the official signing likely happens tomorrow.

we are in that period where team is away from faciltiies for their "vacations" before camp. Im sure it will occur here in the coming two weeks.

I don't know that it'd be as huge a "nightmare" as you think, but I also don't believe they'll go that route either way.
