Looking at the recent Super Bowl winners Rams, Bucs, Eagles, Chiefs, Broncos all established solid teams before acquiring their Super Bowl winning QBs. The Chiefs drafted theirs, but traded up to get him as they were already a playoff team with an average QB in Smith. Bucs and Rams had average to below average QB play and build solid teams around them before trading for or signing their guy. Eagles won as a team with a journeyman QB filling in for their drafted one.
Even if he doesn’t win a Super Bowl, have a decent QB to run our offense and build up our team is a big next step from constantly drafting in the top 10. We become more attractive for vet QBs that may want to leave their team for whatever reason or we can trade up and get our rookie to insert in an offense that isn’t limp and dead. Corral could even be that guy. Rolling it back with Sam and PJ is just hoping for the draft to save us.

You’re comparing what we have in Carolina to those rosters and coaches? Not to mention comparing Baker to Brady, Manning, Mahomes, and Stafford,?

Whatever makes you feel better my dude.

In fairness, Peyton Manning was easily the worst QB in the NFL when he won his 2nd title. That isn't hyperbole.

I still can’t believe that offense beat our team in the big game. I don’t care how good their defense was….

I’m not. I’m comparing Baker to Goff, Winston, and whoever the Broncos had before Manning. We are currently bottom of the league, and Baker COULD help us get to where those teams were BEFORE those elite QBs were acquired.

Baker is an obvious upgrade. Having someone in here who is better in the 3rd is awesome, as that’s where we seem to falter.

I didn’t want Baker, but he’s here now, so I’m hoping it leads to more wins. If it doesn’t work, cool, he’s outta here at the end of the season. We also have our picks, so if we have to move up for one of the top QBs, we’ll be able to do that.

If we’re slinging out hypotheticals, so COULD Corral.

Look I want nothing more than to eat crow and Baker be a 10 year All-Pro, but I’ve been at the table ready to eat for 3 years now. This will be the 4th QB myself and others think is a waste.

It’s obvious Corral has a lot of catching up to do; especially when it comes to the mental side. I don’t know if I would’ve used our 3rd on him, but it is what it is. Hopefully, he shows growth and the team will be able to decide if he’s the future.

If not, use whatever pick needed to move up if it’s determined Baker isn’t that guy.

Oh I doubt he will be a 10 year All-Pro. If he does then great. If he can make our offense respectable then I’ll be happy (especially for what he cost). I think Corral could be that guy. He needs a year to sit and learn the NFL speed and more complex offenses and Baker can allow that to happen while our offense gets clicking and ready for Corral next year. Let the new OL gel, Tremble and TMJ get some catches/experience which can lead to confidence. No offensive player was growing in the garbage we had last year.

We had Sam, PJ, and a 3rd round rookie who said himself he isn’t ready yet. So what would you option be aside from tanking this year and trying to get lucky in the next draft?
Sam sucking and being our top option absolutely means we should have traded for Baker. Our staff’s job is to try to win as many games as possible and this trade helps them achieve that while Corral gets his feet wet.

Also, this is the biggest problem with our staff. Making moves to win NOW instead of building for the future. Worst part is the wins haven’t done either.

In the past absolutely. That is actually what made me happy about this trade. It was only a 2024 conditional 5th which should have very little impact on our future and no money is being pushed past this season.

    • Best to see Icky in the position we drafted him in to see if he continues making progress. All signs point to Canales/Morgan staying on board and so decisions on whether to move him elsewhere on the line will probably be done during the offseason. Personally, I'm more concerned about a more long-term answer at safety and Moton's spot. Love the guy but he's a FA after 2026 and he'll be 32 by then. Kinda has that sign of having to let a player walk one year too early.
    • All I am saying is IMO if we were going to rework or extend his deal I think it would have happened by now.   Just feels like they are going to bite the bullet and let it run its course
    • I mean me speaking honestly per normal- RT is not even on my radar for needing fixing....it sorta should be, but I feel its around 20s in "hey this need attention". Motown could have another 5 years of solid play leftd in his body and mind. I know something needs to done with his contract, its had money pushed back into the late years like three times now. He got like a 38 million cap number cause rhule, frittterererer and this past season Dan deferred money.  I think he's been "healthy" for most of his career and seems to work hard at being able to play. He's a good player to have on the team. I got no idea how this plays out.   We need to have friendly bet about Christs next contract- I say he gets 8million per and 40% guaranteed. If he gets below that, you are the true kungfu master- deal?
