Why would the Hornets say they are giving a restricted free agent a max deal already? That makes zero sense since they can just match any offer Miles gets and will want to keep more cap space available for any other free agents they may want to sign.

I like how they're not looking at last season as a success and demanding more before giving out max contracts like fools.

I'd imagine if your boss is the best to ever play the bar must be very very high. I do think LaMelo will get a max from the Hornets. Anybody else?!

Miles needs to understand that rich is rich. He'll be rich regardless. Don't nickel and dime happiness and uproot your family for who knows what, who knows where.

He loves Charlotte he's said so. Melo is here. The grass may not be greener for a 6'6" forward.

Not surprised that they extended a qualifying offer to Martin but if we bring these two back then the roster will look the same as last years barring a trade.

McDaniels, Richards, and McGowens are all going to be on non-guaranteed contracts so there is a little wiggle room there but if both Bridges and Martin are back then we’re looking at:

G - Ball

G - Rozier, Martin, Bouknight, McGowens

F - Hayward, Oubre, McDaniels

F - Bridges, Washington, Thor, Jones

C - Plumlee, Williams, Richards

I assume McGowens gets a two way deal and maybe Richards gets waived. That will leave two spots open for the MLE and BAE, presumably to pick up another center and point guard. I wouldn’t be totally shocked if they brought back Harrell and Thomas. They’ll also have one more two way slot available as well.

I can see them bringing Thomas back but not Harrell considering the glut of young bigs that need playing time. I also wouldn't rule out a trade for a backup PG and to get some cap relief. Oubre, Plumlee, Hayward, Rozier, and possibly Bouknight being the most likely to be traded.

Fun thing about Clifford returning is the odds of Kemba coming back just went up significantly

    • I really like that nothing was ever handed to him, he was a 0 star recruit out of high school and had to earn his way as a starting QB. Not a common path for a QB, and the opposite of many coddled first round QB prospects. He has everything you’re looking for in terms of physical abilities. To your point, if he finish strong in the playoffs, he will be close to a no brainer at no 1. But we will have to wait to find out.
    • I watched to OL--Hunt?  Earn your money son---they bull rushed you into Bryce all day. BC?  Good work.  He was solid.  I think better than what I saw of Corbett.  Wonder how PFF saw it?
    • It’s not just the height. Bryce is literally petite. You’d be worried about bumping into him in the line at the grocery store. https://x.com/formerlyfiz/status/1837934913175146959?s=46&t=JBd6ZXmGQ3LmWL-ineTnAA and Bryce is not drew brees. That’s one player, stop referencing. Bryce is much closer to the countless productive college qbs who don’t have the skill set to succeed in the nfl. it’s just harder to make that comparison because you don’t remember those people because they’re forgettable.  Bryce is the exact same, except he had a marketing team behind him, he went to bama, and the panthers gave up a fortune for him and some people can’t accept that.
