This may be one of the dumbest draft day trades I have ever seen any sports franchise do. That is saying something. The 13th pick for a mid 20s pick in 2025. You had a chance to draft two really promising players and said, nah man. Lamelo is gone in a few years. No wonder Kenny said no to this poverty franchise.

It was a bad trade as far as compensation goes. The Hornets took it on the chin there. That said, they got the guy they wanted and still have a guy very similar to the one that was traded in Kai Jones. Things will be alright depending on whoever is named HC. If they're leaning Clifford again, I would much rather see the Hornets promote one of the current assistants to HC.

it was the Nuggets first round pick next year not the bucks and from what ive seen its unprotected.

That pick will most likely be at the very bottom of the first round.  Kup said they didn’t want to make 2 picks which is completely ridiculous.  The only way this ends up making any sense is if Duren bombs.   If he turns into a solid player this is the stupidest trade I can remember.  It makes no sense regardless to be honest

Even if Duren bombs there were other players we passed up on too. The NBA gave us a lottery pick and we just proceeded to be clowns with it. I used to be mad about us never getting higher picks but when we do poo like this we don't even deserve it. Mitch looks like a clown for the trade and subsequent reasoning plain and simple.

    • No one is necessarily saying they want him to be third in receptions, but that it could happen and that it wouldn't be some automatic negative. At this point we have other younger, less experienced players who could of course end up producing more than Renfrow, but depending on game dynamics and coaching philosophy regarding experience and simple execution at/on the job, there is a scenario where Renfrow gets more play than most of the guys. That's all I'm saying.  Furthermore, run blocking is an understated part of the job and Renfrow isn't bad at that, but younger guys (especially rookies) need to master that before they become a regular staple in the flow of the game. In my opinion, some Huddlers are just discounting Renfrow a little too much while glorifying younger guys who still have a lot to learn. I've seen this story before. It's not about "infatuation" from the coaches' parts, and more about getting the receivers on the field who can do their job. And speaking of "infatuation," I'm not inclined to fall in love with the next best thing either. I've seen these players come and go on a consistent basis. I told people that Philly was JAG, and that's exactly how his short career played out. My advice would be to at least see players in a game before you crown them as roster material.
    • I agree with those that say Steve Smith won't make it.  No rings and probably pissed to many people off.  Neither will Cam.  His dominant period was to short.  Luke might, but its not a given.
    • This defense needs someone other than Derrick Brown to bring some mean energy I like it. Of course, I'd rather him save it for the regular season or maybe joint practices but I'll take it.
