Oh, I know.

Why do you think I don't entertain my dark side....

This team makes it impossible to find any hope for the future.  I've lost all hope of having a team to cheer for and be proud of.  It's not even funny anymore.

This is one dumb move. I don’t even care about the money of it. He is a douche and won’t command respect. He’s not good enough. If fitterer is pushing it, he definitely loses some respect and goodwill from me despite an otherwise strong offseason.

If absolutely nothing else....that first game vs. the Browns would be instant "must-see tv." Like how does that not get bumped to Prime Time?

I'm really conflicted on this. A lot depends on what we would give up for him, what happens with Sam (see ya) and how my dude Corral progresses. I'm not ready to riot....because I think that Baker would instantly give us the 2nd best QB in the NFC South. And this is behind a completely revamped O-line, with a healthy CMC.

The only way I get pissed at this is if we give up anything higher than a 4th for him.

That’s the big thing, either the Brown eat a huge part of his salary and they get a decent draft pick, they pick up no salary and might even have to give the other team some draft capital to take on the contract or we do a straight swap of Darnold for Baker where we might toss in an additional 5th. It’s more about the $ when it comes to Baker and Darnold who have identical 5th year option numbers of $18 million.

You missed the major point of the post that Baker is not much better than Sam. It's not a big enough upgrade to justify trading for him.

I get it you love Baker because you don't really realize that football is a team sport and Baker was in a great situation in Cleveland.

I love it when people post stuff like this saying you hate this guy or love that guy. I've got receipts playa. Actually I've been steadfast against the Baker acquisition but with training camp now upon us I also do not wish to see the worst starting QB of the last several years play another down for my favorite football team so as a fan thanks to mgmt decisions this is the mess I have to deal with.

Thats fantastic because we just drafted a qb that we had a first round grade on

This is concerning within itself.  If that is true then it appears that we were the only team to have a grade higher than a 3rd, if even that high on him.  First round grade my ass.

Anderson and Darnold for Mayfield and a 2023 4th.

Everyone gets a new start.  We save 2m this year on Anderson and 12m next year (although there will be some dead money involved).

Corral has a chance to learn the ropes and maybe get a few starts at year-end.  Who knows, maybe Mayfield turns into a comp pick for us if he plays well this year.

Cleveland gets a playable QB to back up Brissett/Watson for the same amount of money Baker was going to cost sitting on the bench, while getting rid of a locker room distraction.  They also get Anderson to add to a very thin WR room.  They have 8 picks next year including 2 4ths and 2 5ths, so the draft pick will not hurt (but will be pretty important for us, given we are already down a 3rd).

Possibly. I don't mind just watching a moderately more competent QB at this point. The odds are we are going to be pretty bad in 2022, so at least some level of intrigue would make the games watchable for a while.

But, I would say the same about Corral starting, as well.

I agree that the odds of us going to the Superbowl are a tad short of possible, but I don't agree with bringing Mayfield or any QB in to replace our starting QB with very little, if any, upside. A significant upside yes, making a lateral QB move, to me, is pointless...

Doesn't bother me much.  Most teams simply did not need a QB.  For example, he may have been graded as a 2nd round talent by GB, but no way they pick a QB.

I was a little surprised WA and TB passed on him in the 3rd, but glad we got him.

Most mocks had him in the late first, second round range, so I think at worst he'll be a solid backup.

    • We could easily pick apart yesterday’s game: dropped passes, blown coverages, bad tackling and red zone issues to name a few. But it was clear that this wasn’t the same team from earlier in the season. They fought back and hung with the champs until the end. That’s what I was excited to see and it gives me hope that we’re on the right track.
    • I think BY played well today and exceeded expectations. I will temper future expectations as he has to string together many games of consistent quality. One game doesn’t convince me that he is a franchise QB or even a guy you want to stick with for another season. One game doesn’t erase all the negative play and limitations from the past couple of years. I hope he balls out and continues to get better but for me the verdict is still out   That said, I think he gave the team and fans hope yesterday which is a lot more than what we had when we woke up Sunday morning.
    • He was vastly improved today and we need to see more of Bryce the rest of the season to continue evaluate him in order to decide what the heck to do with him at the end of the season. He must play at least like this and improve more from here the rest of the season in order for me to keep him. No more 123 yard passing games and want to see at least this output weekly from him. If this is Bruce improving slowly over time then Canales is even better with developing QB's than I thought he was but still too early to tell and we need to see him the rest of the way as he has at very least earned back the starting gig moving forward.
