Check out this turtle

I found this box turtle on the road behind my house.  Its a busy road he could have been hit.  Going to take him over to my inlaws in a very rural area and let him go.  His name is DickHead...

I got a pic of a snapping turtle from work, but it keeps saying it wont upload. It's in a big grey trash can, and fills the bottom. And he was unhappy.

I have two similar sized snapping turtles in my pond. They must both be males or females because no more are showing up. As long as it stays those two I'm cool. But I don't want a whole pond full of them.

They’re pretty solitary. My grandparents had one in their pond since I was a kid and was pretty sure it mated with one as we saw another around for a time during certain seasons but it left. My best friend also had two and only two in his pond for about 20 years that mated. The babies are pretty much on their own day 1 and go their own way.

The one at my grandparents stayed its whole life though. Died right before one of my grandparents died (so like 30+ years).

My pond is spring fed, largely shaded, and deep. It's only about an acre but it's 30 feet deep. It stays cold so the turtles are really only active a few months out of the year. They only emerged for the summer about two weeks ago. They'll disappear for the winter the first cool snap in the fall.

I've always been told not to move box turtles because they have a territory. Don't know if it's true or not.. Don't feel like googling

I found a big old turtle in the road a few years back. Over a foot long and all dark no colorations.  I released him near my pond and every once in a while I see him there sunning himself on the bank.  The other smaller turtles don't seem to mind his presence.
