College football might be about to get real interesting

I have literally been pushing for the NIL for over 25 years. Glad to see it come to pass.

The NIL in theory is good.

But what presently exists at big schools now isn’t really that.  It’s just pay for play.  With a lot more cash and not in secret.

NIL does need some work.

Yep. It was badly needed. Now it badly needs some parameters and oversight. I honestly think that's why the NCAA fought it for so long and why when they were finally forced to open the flood gates they just threw them open 100%. They don't want to actually work. 😂

They want this to be a full on poo show so that they can say, "See! We told you so!"

They fought it for so long because they wanted all the money. That was the reason.

It's a shitshow because rather than having a plan, they fought it tooth and nail. fug all these crooked universities(athletic dept) and the NCAA.

Pay for play has existed for as long as college athletics.

Oh I wasn’t implying it hasn’t always existed.  It has.  Bama had mastered the old system for example.  Which basically what this Saban/Jimbo beef is IMO.

The new version?  Well someone like A&M does have new advantages now.  Which he isn’t happy about.

Now it’s more cash.  A lot more.  And they don’t really have to hide it.  They just use the NIL cover.

I'd rather it be open rather than the shadows. I have seen enough personally from the shadow world in AAU basketball. UNC, Duke, NC State, Wake, etc. I have seen/have knowledge of them all putting money in players pockets. That's just the local schools. Plenty nationally too.

Pitt WR just got a rumored 3.5 million fo transfer to USC. The NIL stuff is not going to be a local kid pitching Camaros for a dealership. It’s bogus marketing deals set up to launder bribe money - just Iike most of us called it. NCAA is gonna have to set up some rules asap or this sport is ruined.

    • Yeah and he succeeded at an even higher level in LA with an even better surrounding cast. Goff is a guy that isn't really able to dramatically elevate players around him but he can make a good situation even better. He is capable of that. Some QB's aren't. I am not sure Dak is able to do that and he is in a similar "class" as Goff, IMO.
    • i think i could handle that for a year. beyond that....i don't know.  back where we lived, when we had a few inches of snow, it might have been a couple feet because we weren't getting out and doing anything. i remember times where power would go out for days on end. we had propane and electric heat, depending on the floor. basement (had a couple bedrooms and a living room and kitchen down there) and main floor had gas logs. main floor gas logs was enough to take care of the upstairs, so we could stay warm and cook on the grill when we needed. we had a well so that was always an issue when the power went out. had to make sure tubs were filled with water for the toilets and we had gallons of water for drinking and cooking available. always had to make sure we were ready. that wasn't always the case. we had a couple moments where we were going through propane quickly and because we were dealing with the worst propane company in the world (amerigas) they wouldn't get out to put gas in our 900 gallon tank. made for some nerve racking moments.  i know y'all were probably a lot more able to handle that kind of thing, but after the little bit (comparatively) that we got here i just have no desire to get trapped again. maybe for a day or two a year get snowed in and i'm good.
    • I think he is just drawing a DC to them line and that's about as far as his thought process went. It makes almost no sense outside of that. Also, it doesn't make sense for Pittsburgh or Seattle at this juncture either.  I think our "veteran" pool is basically gonna be the Dalton/Flacco tier or the "pick your poison" options of young busts(Jones/Z. Wilson) or wild, TO prone gunslingers(Darnold/Winston/etc). We have the option to pursue I genuinely believe(depending on the way the rest of this season goes), we either draft a QB in the top 10 or resign Dalton. Outlier third option on taking one of the wild gunslingers that Dave feels like he can work with.
