No secret I am a fan of his QB evaluations.  Here is where he stands so far.  He still thinks that Darnold has a chance to redeem himself.

It will be interesting to see where he ranks our incoming rookie Matt Corrall.

I listened to the one he did on sammy. He's got all the tools and athletic ability. It's basically his ability to process and handle pressure. He also talks about him missing the big throws. He doesn't see opportunities and can't capitalize on them when he does see them. We missed out on a lot of points because he couldn't get it done.

I mean the Tyrod thing is pretty weird.  Maybe he is factoring his recent health.  I guess that could make sense. He clearly should be above Sam Darnold based on careers to date.

Tyrod has a winning record as a starter and pretty much better everything statisically.

Tyrod is a checkdown king though.  Simms prefers QBs who like to sling it

No way Darnold should be ahead of Taylor, Minshew, or Mills. I wasn't big at all on Pickett as a prospect but he hasn't proven he sucks in the NFL and Darnold has so hell I'd have him over Darnold too.

Teddy is basically Tyrod though.  They both have basically the exact same edge over him in the W/L department and TD/INT department.

I know hating Teddy is hip here.  And he isn't good.  But he is still better than Sam Darnold.

I honestly didn't even notice Teddy's name on the list. Yes, Teddy is better than Darnold. By a decent margin. Teddy would actually be an ideal backup. He's not going to go out there and lose the game for you. He's definitely not gonna win it either, but he's the perfect kinda "hold the fort down" backup. Your team is going to be what your team is with Teddy. Bad roster, bad team. Good roster, good team. He's just the perfect vanilla QB. Him being your starter at QB adds more subtracts any expected wins from baseline. If you sucked before Teddy, you still suck. If you were good before Teddy, you're still good (unless your previous QB was carrying you).

    • I forgot about Jackson...definitely elite.  The sad part of your list is that 2 of them were 'there for the taking for the Panthers'.  Rumor has it that Hurney loved Herbert and was vetoed on trying to trade up.  And rumor has it that Frank & McCown wanted Stroud.  I believe both rumors.
    • I went on a solo elk hunt in the Flat Tops. It was awesomely miserable. LOL It was a late season hunt, I think third season and it was forecasted to snap off cold with highs in the upper thirties and lows in the single digits. fug it, I'm going anyway. They were wrong. The highs were in the low 20s and the lows were in the negative teens. I shivered so hard the first night I thought my teeth were going to break. It was the only time I've ever been legit concerned that I might be in trouble. Crawled out of my sleeping bag and got a fire started and suffered through the night bundled up next to the fire. I slept the next two nights literally wearing every stitch of clothing I'd brought with Nalgenes full of near boiling water in the bottom of my sleeping bag. That was the only way to have non-frozen water in the morning anyway. There was about a foot of snow on the ground and the melt/freeze crust was almost enough to support your weight but you'd go crashing through just as you went or make your step. It was exhausting travel and every step sounded like a rifle shot. Hunting was basically impossible. I never saw an elk in those four days, only saw 5-6 deer. LOL It was brutal but I loved it. Absolutely beautiful country that is never been to before and haven't been back since. I needed that four day complete break from society fighting for my life against the elements. I'm weird like that.
    • The lack of production is especially surprising given how much effort the team put into coaxing the best from him.  In just six short years he’s had the opportunity to work with 3 different GMs, 7 different head coaches and 10 different starting quarterbacks.  There’s literally no excuse to be made that one of those combos didn’t work.  It might be time to look withIAN.
