Does Rhule really think he has 5 years?

Teddy  was also in a better situation.
2020 Robbie > 2021 Robbie
Mike Davis >>>>rookie Chuba
Okung>Erving
Curtis Samuel>rookie Terrace Marshal

But Sam had an easier schedule (26th compared to 18th) and just looked bad overall.

Trading for Sam was a huge mistake that they are desperately trying to fix.

I think it was more Teddy just being a better QB though than Sam.    2020 Robbie existed because Sam wasn’t on the field.

Teddy lacks a lot.  But he offers a lot over a bad QB like Sam.

Rhule botched the management of the QB spot and that will be what ends his career in the NFL.  Gotta find it quick and he wasted time.  Should of let Cam play out that last year of his deal and drafted a kid that year.  When he messed that up he should of kept Teddy for 2 seasons and drafted a kid last year.  That is what made sense for a rebuilding team.  He had two windows to do it and didn’t use either one IMO.

Now he is in some weird have to get wins now in year 3 to stay employed  window….which I think will have high odds of Sam/PJ being played in some bad conservative scheme thinking it is the best path to squeak out a win each week.   And I think he will annoy the GM to still go get Jimmy G or Baker if it gets cheaper and play them.    When it should just be about seeing what we have in Corral.

but even if Rhule finds a QB…I think his leadership at this level and in game management are pretty suspect.    We have had suspect in game management before but the others were good leaders IMO until their times were just naturally near the end.

My lack of belief in Rhule has nothing to do with the roster or even who plays QB. It’s about his inability to develop players, atrocious game planning and game management, dishonesty and lack of respect he has for his players, and the culture of accountability that he hasn’t been able to instill, because he is ironically the least accountable. If he won just one more game but he showed command of these areas, I would actually give him a pass.

I hope he proves me wrong but if he doesn’t learn from his mistakes and starts throwing people under the bus, he should be canned after this year.

I know some dislike these guys but this is a good outside opinion on how lame our coaching staff was last year at adjusting/progressing at all throughout the season. If we look the same as last year by week 5 I think Rhule/Snow are gone

I like these guys and they’re spot on.

I'm not sure if their views are impressive from watching enough tape to actually pick up on it, or if it was so obvious to everyone outside of our staff it took them skimming around a couple of games to figure out our biggest issue

100%

Unless Corral turns out to be the second coming of Joe Montana, I think Rhule's days are numbered.

Now that you have compared and contrasted what each inherited in players let's compare their years of nfl experience.  Go.

This (more than any other factor) likely explains the W/L record when it comes to Panthers Head Coaches.

Capers, Fox and Rivera spent years honing their craft, rising to the top of their profession.  When finally given their opportunity to be an NFL Head Coach, they were prepared for it.

On the other hand, Rhule's NFL experience when tapped to be the Panthers Head Coach wouldn't fill up a post-it note.

I don't expect it, but considering how quick the turnaround is for successful teams in the league, 3 years is plenty of time for a coach to take a team to a deep run in the playoffs. That should have been the expectation, and it would have been a completely reasonable one, not the 7 years that they have been talking about to turn around a team.

and back off the calling people fools, alright? Considering how successful coaches can turn around a teams and make even the most dysfunctional of teams into the playoffs and even a superbowl within 3-4 years (hell, we've done it here twice with new coaches taking on worse teams with worse records), it's completely reasonable and rational to expect a new coach to have their team in the playoffs within 3 years.

if Rhule can't get that done, we've got the wrong coach. The fact that we didn't improve from year 1 to year 2 is a bad sign for him and if there isn't a drastic improvement this year, then that's more evidence we hired the wrong guy.

This is a totally different time than RR&fox. Each also had the great benefit of Peppers and Cam in year one, both game changers. Plus the following did not happen, below is list of Rhule had to over-come

100 million dead cap space for the first 2 years.

Due to coofus- NO OTAS, NO Rookie camp, No MINI camp, NO training camp.

Just one preseason game

Lets run down some of the players that departed

Cam- HOFer and leader, you can argue this some given he was Cut, but got nothing close to 19million with his shot shoulder

Olsen- HOFer leader

Luke- HOFer leader

Mario Addison- good for 9 sacks a season

James Bradberry- gave all the NFC south stud WR all they could handle

Vernon Butler- Good backup, depth

Ross Cockrell- Dog and nice #3 CB/NB

 Wes Horton- good depth

Bruce Irvin- starter that was a pros pro

Kyle Love- depth solid player

Gerald McCoy- former 1st and still had a legit first step

Greg Van Roten- CMC buddy and ok starter

Daryl Williams- miss-cased had two good years at Buffalo

Dontari Poe- starting space eater

Thomas Davis, KKShort, and Ryan Kalil also leftd right as this started. That is 98% of the leadership and around 60% of the total snaps&stats. BTW that was the most NFL history. The whole dam DL was gone, all 4 starters and all of the depth GONE! Herniay was also the GM. But dont let facts get in the way of alll the rhule hate, since that is stronger than panther fandom.

If you and anyone expected playoff within 2 years, pure ignorance. This was the toughest start to ANY NFL HC career, bar none.

The vast majority of those guys either weren't wanted back or weren't very good.

And calling this "the toughest start to an NFL head coach career" is ridiculous. Heck, there are people who started the same year as Rhule who had it just as tough or tougher and are doing way better now.

Rhule can't even rightly be credited with having the toughest start of any Panthers coach.

Name them with more dead cap and more stats that leftd the following year. Plus I want more than 3 HOFer leaving too.

    • I have no clue how much he will be on the field. I hope he plays well and doesn't get injured. Keep in mind that rookie rbs are typically hampered by struggling a bit with pass protection assignments. It seems it is a bit more of an adjustment from the college game.
