Home ice matters in this series. We had them on the ropes yesterday and were beating them up and down the ice then …we imploded. They didn’t beat us. We beat us. Our 5-5 has been better than there’s.  The are missing 2 big Defensive players. They will where down and almost did yesterday before a bad challenge by Rod and dumb penalty after penalty. They played that whole game down a man it felt like.

For us to close…stay out of the penalty box. Get the power play going and win at home.

Trust me…we are good this series. A little tighter than I would have liked but we WILL close this one out.

The Panthers have the best PK in the league, but you can't expect them to work miracles when they're doing it for 20 minutes a game.

The Canes fell yesterday because they lost discipline and let an inferior team get into their heads. The Bruins are crippled defensively and have a single line that can score against the Canes on home ice, thanks to the last change rule. That changes dramatically when they come back to Raleigh.

My biggest concern, though, is the inability to get pucks to the net when they're missing their 2 best D-men in McAvoy and Lindholm. Had the Canes played smart and stayed out of the box yesterday, they would have won the game.

Not by coincidence that they were free from Staal....

I think what the canes need to do is free themselves from any preconceived notion. You could tell they were mentally at a breaking point yesterday, I mean Tro was barely able to restrain tears. They need to remind themselves to play fun, play brutal and figure out swayman. We can shut down their 1st line, even in Boston if we keep a level head.

Is it just me or does Domi need to go back to center. KK ain’t getting it done.

KK isn’t a 4th line center. We aren’t barely using our energy line on the road he’s a 2(in our scheme). Domi is a much better energy line center, especially with Lorentz and Stepan. I’m sorry but Necas is the odd man out right and we should probably shop him at the end of the season if we don’t think he can 1-2 produce. If for some awful reason we lose at home tomorrow. We need to pull Necas and put Lorentz in. That way we have a bruiser on each line.

And don’t get me wrong Necas is and will be an outstanding player for years, I just don’t know if we have a spot for him these playoffs.

Nečas it’s certainly having a down year. It reminds me of last year with 37. He didn’t have that good of a year at all last year. This year he’s having his best year ever. Necas last year was awesome using his speed. This year definitely have an a down year.  Necas is going to be an absolute stud in this league but he needs to put on some pounds and be used in the correct position. He’s completely out of place right now

he’s also probably pressing pretty hard and in his own head. Rod needs to put him in the right position and just sit him down and ask him just play your game keep it simple

I think RBA has been a lot more patient with #88 than anyone might have expected. He took a seat earlier in the year for a few games because he wasn't producing and RBA has plugged him in with a wide variety of line combinations trying to find something that would help get him off the parked bus. Nothing has worked.

Necas is an RFA at the end of the season and his year doesn't help his situation any. I don't think it matters a lot since I have to believe Vinny will leave and get paid handsomely and Domi will likely take the middle of that line with a new contract.

I’m not sold on Domi yet. I’d rather have KK anchor 2. He’s gonna thrive. Domi is maybe 4th at this point in my eyes.

Yeah, I didn't put that correctly. I would assume KK gets the second line while Domi takes over the 4.

    • i think i go in the opposite direction of most. my ideal retirement is living in some old downtown area in a flat above some shop or something.  life out in the country was just something i got real tired of. My kids actually miss some of living out there, which i understand. that was where they grew up for the most part. 40 acres with a 2.5 acre pond. it was beautiful, but also way too much (and too expensive) for me to keep up with.
    • FLASHBACK: I remember back when ESPN was just starting--he was their anchor.  They used to show stuff like Rodeo and field hockey--I remember laughing when he went to a commercial mocking a cycling competition in Utah (or something similar--I made that up) and I laughed.  I told my dad, "We may have us a new anchor when we get back from commercial."  When they came back from commercial, Berman was looking very serious and he said, "Any comments by me do not reflect the views of ESPN....The men and women who cycle are dedicated athletes and we are honored to shine light on their sport." (Paraphrasing).  Dad laughed hysterically. My first memory of him--and that was like 1980.
    • Might not have a team without them. Although that probably applies to the Panthers, too.
