Jimmy has been to the SB and the conference championship two times over the last 3 years.

I agree we shouldn't give up the store, but Sam to JimmyG is the definition of a big upgrade.

The only way we get Jimmy G or Baker is if they are released.   We are not going to pay big bucks for a rent-a-QB.  Doesn't make sense.

The most recent sight of Jimmy G was him throwing a very ill advised pass to the other team and squashing his own teams postseason hopes. Keep in mind that is with a very solid Niners roster. We can get that level of mediocre without giving up more draft picks.

If he came essentially free and didn't mess our cap situation up that much, sure. But doubt that's going to happen. 

Rather watch Darnold the first few weeks, see him poo the bed, and then toss Corral in to see what he's got. Would be nice to let Corral sit and learn, but I'm also not a fan of not seeing him for multiple games this year to see if there's anything there or not. Good chance we go into the 2023 draft with QB still as a need. If Corral can prove otherwise, let him. Would rather not go into next offseason wondering what Corral has.

If the reports about the 49ers not being impressed with Trey Lances development so far I wouldn't be surprised to see them keep Jimmy for another year.

Two things HAVE to happen first.

1) Jimmy G becomes a free agent 

2) Sammy and his contract disappear.

Neirher one of these are likely to happen and the chances of both of them happening are pretty much nil.

Technically three, with the third being that San Francisco has to become comfortable with the idea of Trey Lance as their starter.

There's been some chatter that's not especially close to happening.

Yes. No way Jimmy G hits FA unless they feel confident Trey is ok....which seems not to be the case.
