is there a new rule that all threads must go to some bizarre talking point thunderdome battle?

getting weird even for the huddle.

The lack of negativity has screwed up their equilibrium. Now they are left lashing out, trying desperately to latch on to any semblance of hate.

As their food source diminishes, they will leave for darker waters.

Both were really underdeveloped coming out. Corral doesn't have the same mechanical issues that Sam had though. Sam has done virtually nothing to correct the issues he had coming out of college and kind of regressed his final year. Corral has progressed since last year. They aren't really comparable honestly, Sam is this big strong physical athlete where as Matt is smaller and doesn't quite have the same physical tools, but is a much cleaner quarterback already. Matt's biggest hill he will need to overcome is his progression from a major RPO system and his own physical limitations.

Thank you

People are treating this like Madden and just looking at throw power and run speed.

Both players have enough physical tools to play QB in the NFL.  If you want to break down the physical differences its probably something like:

Sam has the better height and wight.  Matt is the better runner.  Sam probably has the stronger arm.  Matt the quicker release.  Matt is probably the more accurate overall.

At the end of the day though both guys have enough tools to play QB in the NFL

Biggest issue with Correll is the system he came from.  Sam did pro things in college, Matt not so much.  Things like looking off safeties and going through progressions.

Fans need to be patient with Matt, just like everyone was saying Willis would take longer to develop than Pickett, Matt is probably closer to Willis in the regard.

Teddy had a more accurate deep ball, and that's saying something because he wasn't that accurate deep and he didn't trust it or throw it that often.

Sam's just not a starting NFL QB.  Rhule thought he could coach him up.

You can take a player out of the jets, but you can't take the jets out of a player.

Teddy couldn't throw the ball deep without heaving it up there on a bet. The knock on Teddy was he refused to throw it down the field. Darnold actually has a fairly good deep ball which he rarely gets to show because he has never had time generally  to wait for receivers to get deep. It is fine not to.like someone but you have to be within the real of possibility to get any credibility.

Sam saw ghosts in NY and moving him here did nothing to change that.  I think lack of confidence in our line actually   reinforced it.  He may be marginally better with the additional line strength but I don’t think he is able to overcome his demons. Not enough to be a starter in the NFL.

Almost every QB drafted has the physical tools to play in the NFL.  The tools can alter ceilings and make certain throws available or unavailable……but it pretty much comes down to what is between the ears.   Winning presnap, coverage, timing, composure, manipulating the field, when to gamble and when you can’t.

Yeah, you could give a box of rocks Mike Vicks tools and they could make something work.  But outside of that it’s about the brain.

Darnold has always been overrated, he played with a top 3 recruiting class and underperformed.

You think he underperformed at USC? He beat out two five stars and single handedly turned the program around as a RS freshman. He went 20-4 as a starter at a very dysfunctional program. USC always had talent but was a mess under Helton.

People like to downplay his college career and point out the turnovers because it’s the convenient thing to do now. I watched every game he played in college and to say he underperformed is so far from true.

Great write up on his pros and cons here, he went from one OC to Kiffen, got way better but struggled against some looks he wasn't used to in 2020, and eventually had a better record in 2021 despite losing Elijah Moore. Sounds like he actually reads/reacts too fast, opposite of Darnold. That's easier to fix than trying to speed someone up who just doesn't have it upstairs.

It is true  that it looked like Teddy had to throw his entire body into a deep throw, and its also true that he refused to throw it, even with the game on the line.

I also believed Darnold had a more accurate deep ball, but the actual study on the subject says otherwise.  Teddy threw it less often, but when he did, it was slightly more accurate.

He underperformed, there was not one game he went into where he didn’t have the more talented team. They were a bigger mess under Sarkisian and that didn’t stop Kessler from putting up better numbers than Darnold with a lesser talented team.
