Opinions on Corrals game

He is going to have to become accurate on the long throws. Teams will find a way to limit the shorter stuff and that will handicap the offense no matter how good they run the football.

They can't run the slants and ten yard outs continuously and expect teams not to adapt.

I dont see corral ever being a " running" NFL quarterback, so his size and weight are the least of my concerns. He has got other things that he needs to work on.  Brees was shorter and played at about 210.  Not saying this guy will ever be Brees like but size matters less than talent and smarts.

Yeah Chuba looked good behind our terrible OL last year. He is going to be a good RB to come in for CMC. We finally got a decent OL for them both to run behind now we just need to limit CMC’s snaps and hopefully he can stay healthy.

I personally, was not a fan of Chuba last year.

His balance was crap, he fell all the time, and his hands were stone.

Yes the line sucked, but he also did himself no favors. I understand why we went out and got Foreman. He is definitely the goal-line back, but he also showed he is capable of being a team's RB2 when Henry went down. I firmly believe that Foreman becomes the team's true RB2 next season and Chuba ends up RB3.

you got have the right people to pull off small ball.  QB and recieving options.

it worked with Teddy.  Sam was the problem last year.  Not teams figuring it out.  They knew what it was the year prior with Teddy.  Sam can't run a small ball O.  It's too much diagnosis and timing.  He just isnt' that.

plus, we had a real slot option with Teddy.  Not with Sam.  If you want to play small ball you need someone quick and reliable in the slot working that area.  That was Samuel.  We didn't replace him.

He started 3 years at an SEC school and he got drafted, so there's a skill set to be seen somewhere.

I haven't seen him play since the 2020 season and I saw a lot of frustration, a lot of temper, a lot of attitude and a lot of what looked to me like giving up during games. Hopefully he matured during his senior season, because I liked what I saw when he started as a sophomore, but seemed to take a step backward in his junior season.

I feel like NO toward the end of Brees career ran nothing but slants and 10-yard outs with no problems.

He's a perfect fit for BM. He has a quick release and accuracy in the low and middle throw range. I still don't like his footwork and he doesn't have the arm to get away with his poor mechanics. Especially when he needs to air a ball out. Or put touch on a deep out route. I think it would be best for him if Darnald is good enough to be a game manager this year. It will allow him to work on the weak points in his game and have a more complete weapons package next year.

Sounds like a job for CMC....if you can keep him off the beach.

Corral seems like a passionate kid. In his college RPO system the progressions were limited or short it seems. He only made a few reads and then was expected to get what he could with his legs (Something we could have used last year with our OL maybe). He made those reads pretty well and didn't force as many throws last year has he did the year before. His release is fast and his arm pretty good (not Willis or Strong, but better than Pickett or Zappe). He reminds me of a more-talented Taylor Heinecke. I like the way he moves in the pocket--he seems to have a lot better awareness than Sam. Hopefully he can develop and learn to process more reads and beef up his frame a bit.

We shouldn't be 2-6 this year. Darnold isn't the issue. We haven't had a left tackle in 10 years. Now we do.

We drafted a hopeful answer at LT.  That's big picture though. Jordan Gross wasn't Jordan Gross right when we drafted him.

Darnold is a huge issue.

We also have a tougher schedule this year than last.  At least outside of the division.

Yeah if I remember right Gross played RT his first year. (?)

At QB, let the kid sit. The Oline will take time to develop, we have a new OC, I don't think we should be in a big hurry to play him. It doesn't sound like they are.

Obviously if he is next level better than Darnold in camp, that changes. Once it is clear... players know who should be playing, you can't sit that guy for long.
