Opinions on Corrals game

I have been watching alot of his games(not just highlights), and yes the slants, twelve yard outs, and QB runs seems to be a big part of his game. Very accurate on the short and medium stuff, so-so on the long stuff. What can we expect with Mcadoo running the offense. Will this be a run first offense with the short and medium stuff to compliment the running game?

He definitely needs some more beef on his frame if he is going to be a running QB in the NFL and not end up on I.R.

So what you got....what will the OC and his rookie QB fiqure out that will work.

Looking at the schedule I only see 5-6 wins at the most. They may be in position to select a QB in the first round next year. Hopefully he sees the field so the team can see what they have in him.

Darnold will not be a panther after this year. There’s no reason for him to play once Corral is up to speed with the offense. I think Corral has a very short window to show if he can be a long term starter. How many 2nd or 3rd round QBs have gone on to be studs ? Wilson, Carr ? I can’t think of anyone else

Based on how much time the defense was on the field last season, Rhule’s publicly stated desire to run the ball more, and McAdoo’s previous schemes, I think we’ll favor ball control and ToP over bigger chunk plays. I also expect us to be more effective at converting 4th and shorts.

We have the personnel to do it, hopefully we execute.

I think he's already put on 7 pounds since his last college weigh in. He's at 6'2" 212 and Lamar Jackson was 6'2" 208 on his RAS so not that worried about that. I've watched some games too and from what I can tell he had a great connection with Elijah Moore in 2020, and he had a pretty bad team this past year yet somehow willed the team to a better record by scrambling more than he probably intended to. I saw a lot of looking at his first read at least, guy blanketed so running for the first down. Definitely some timing/accuracy issues between him and the WR's but also lots of dropped catchable balls

Quick release, compact throwing motions and very accurate on the short to medium routes.. Has a strong arm maybe a tick under Wills and not afraid to show it.. Seems like a fiery leader like Cam..

Cons

One read QB right now.. Fragile frame.. To tough for his own good..

He clearly has the arm and athleticism to play QB in the NFL.  He looks strong on his first read in the RPO a lot.  Big question for me is, can he read defenses at the NFL level consistently if his first read is taken away?

I think that will be his biggest challenge, figuring out how to actually work through his progresses and make real reads. A lot of those Air Raid guys don't adjust to that at the next level.

Yeah, I am worried he is gonna default to hero ball if that interior OL doesn't at least improve to average NFL caliber. I don't want to see him getting lit the fug up as he is scrambling to make a play with his feet. He can't take the beating Joe Burrow takes.

Good topic.

Expecting a lot of 11 personnel from McAdoo with a lot of slants and other quick developing routes and I expect him to use Moore in the same way he used OBJ. Going this route would explain why the Panthers were enamored with Corral, Corral’s quick release and his accuracy between the LOS and the first down marker probably got McAdoo excited. I went back and watched Manning’s TD’s from 2014 and on most of his TD passes he knew where he was going with the ball pre-snap. I suspect that will benefit Corral being that he’s a one-read QB right now.

The big question mark unfortunately comes back to CMC. If CMC is healthy he makes the offense much more dynamic and difficult to defend. If he gets hurt again then I can see a scenario where the offense struggles again because of how easy 11 personnel is to defend when you don’t have a running game.

If CMC holds up and the OL is as good as we think it will be then the offense could be pretty successful.
