Why do I have to be a sheep when I can have my own opinion?

This board is supposed to be for football conversation not sucking off the FO.

I gave a very valid reason for not liking the pick. There is only one QB in the NFL that ran as much RPO as Corral did and it’s Tua. So Willis can be trashed for his system but Corral can’t be disliked for his?

There are very few people on this board that actually have real conversations when it comes to football. The rest either blindly follow the team like sheep or hate every move.

I stated that I loved the Ickey pick and gave valid reasons for liking the pick even though some question his ability as a pass protector. I gave a valid reason for why I didn’t like the Corral pick as the system he came from doesn’t produce NFL QB’s.

Instead of getting any real conversation back people post fugging videos of what one guy said because they have no knowledge of the game of football. Instead of pooing people’s posts people need to provide a valid response to a valid concern or find something else to do with their spare time. If my comment bothers you but you don’t have the intellect to have an actual football conversation with me then block me.

I am here to talk football with the few that have any sense. Not cradle the balls of this franchise and cheer their every move.

I mean, that's all and good, but I've watched the game in earnest for damned near 45 years (50 if you count just as a fan), and I can say with surety that no one knows how any of these guys will do until the time comes. Waxing on about the system a kid played in while in college, however technical, is just that. We're going to have to wait and see how he develops and plays. All the discussion based on what he (or any of them) did or didn't do in college is pretty fruitless at this point.

Howell regressed over his college career, he got worse every year he was the starter. Now that could be caused by a myriad of issues. But Corral has a better body of work and stats than Howell.

im a UNC fan fwiw.

He holds the ball way too long, locks on wr, has a weird pre throw tick making his wind up a bit slow.

That said its wild he is still on the board

If Corral works out, cool. Good for us.

If he doesn't, god we'll look dumb and desperate and be drafting a QB next year.

I think we should have went with Darnold this year and bet on a stronger QB class next year. Don't see Corral being the guy. Like him, seems like he's got some tools, but so did tons of QB busts. I like the aggressiveness on draft day but it was misplaced here IMO

It's been 9 hours he's a Panther now. We have officially moved past the stage of complaining about the talent level of this years QB class. He's here. Accept it or just take a break.

Look man I am going to pull for him but people cannot be really questioning why some folks have an issue with this pick.  For starters I dont get the moving up part at all.  We are just not a patient franchise.  They cannot help themselves.  On to Corral, there were some major red flags in his game coming from a one read short throw RPO system.  We just do not know how limited his game is at this point.  His deep balls are a bit wonky as well.  Kiffen never really put the ball in his hands and let him go to work.  Then you look at his frame and wince thinking about lineman getting after him.  And finally his lockerroom leadership skills are also in question to go with some red flags in his character history.  Its all been discussed in numerous threads.

I think all in all its pretty obvious this qb class on the whole is dogshit and the collective NFL are all waiting on next years crop because of the rave reviews its already getting.  But you know we panicked as usual.

But hey man I am pulling for him, I hope it works out but the odds are not in favor of a 3rd round guy working out.

He's a Panther now so naturally I'm all in on him. I hope he becomes the next GOAT. Will he? Probably not. But it's a start at trying to solve the situation with a draft pick. Who can honestly complain about that? Who am I kidding this is the Huddle.

Nothing has changed for me and I was vocal about it pre-draft. Fug Matt and get a franchise QB in 2023. That is the win this team needs. I can't even pretend anymore that it will work itself out this year, nothing left there for me.

We got our LT, that is what I am celebrating which is everything since I never saw a path to a QB this year. This is just meh, I get it but whateves.

Exactly. I am over the moon happy for the LT pick.
I hope our more experienced staff can develop Corral and work on what he struggles with and does not start him till he is ready.
Because if he doesn’t work out then we will continue searching.

I think the discourse is just all over the place already. Acting like he was brought in to be the “quarterback of the future” just isn’t true right and is very unfair to Corral himself. This was the 94th pick in the draft. We know that historically QB’s pan out at a low rate past the first round. If Corral does become the face of the franchise one day? Beautiful - it will go down as one of the best picks in franchise history.

but right now he’s more of a project. When is the last time a team entered a season with a third round pick to be their QB? We don’t need to put unreasonable expectations on this guy from the start.

Maybe there’s a disconnect here. I prefer to have an intellectual conversation about the game of football with supporting facts. A conversation can be had without trashing the kid, the franchise, or anyone else.

For starters, I’m a Panthers fan but no, I don’t agree with everything that they do. Secondly, no, I’m not a fan of Corral but I hope he succeeds.

I’ve given a reason why and instead of an intellectual response in return people just poo your post because they aren’t capable of forming intellectual sentences about the game of football.

I’ve seen your posts on Corral and I applaud you for having an opinion and backing it up. It’s more than most have done.

I think people need to understand that on a message board opinions are meant to be shared and having a different opinion than someone else or even the organization doesn’t make you a “ hater”.

I can still cheer for the kid but at the same time be concerned about the pick, the two aren’t mutually exclusive.

I like the way he plays. He actually has a passion for the game. He is definitely nothing like Sam Darnold who seems more like a clock in clock out kind of role player. In the third we all know the odds of drafting a franchise QB but we took a shot and that's all I can ask for.

    • I think it will be hard to not go edge in the second if we go QB first. Say you have Starks, one of Bond/Egbuka, and maybe one Edge (don't have a name to throw out that is end of 1st round projected and may slide)... do you still go Starks? Just curious. I haven't looked into starks much, as I've been focused on QB, WR, and DL prospects.
