Panthers GM Scott Fitterer confirmed the team is out of the running for a veteran quarterback after drafting Ole Miss' Matt Corral. 

Aka Baker Mayfield needs an NIL deal. Pro Football Network's Aaron Wilson reported earlier Friday that the Panthers went in the Corral direction after trade talks broke down with the Browns. Save for Seattle, Mayfield is essentially out of places to go, something that will further drag out trade talks even if the Seahawks are actually interested. There is no reason for urgency on any interested team's part at this point. Playing hurt in 2021, Mayfield did himself no favors, while his attitude has quite apparently not endeared him to rival front offices.

Watched him on NFL network this morning, he wasn’t too excited about it. I think he wants Sam to get a chance behind the new line. He also seems to think Rhule is more at fault for Sam’s struggles than Sam.
