Pauline doubles down: “Cross won’t fall past 6”

For the most part we have gotten good reports on what the panthers want to do at 6, as far as what they send to want at that spot.

Lots of OT talk whether it be Cross, Neal, or Icky. Obviously that is ideal for us. I’m ready for Thursday to be here. Let’s get this line finished up and have it steady for the next 5 years.

and #11 is a much more reasonable spot for a guard, and #13 for a center, were gonna be dominating so much TOP these next few seasons

hopefully the league changes the rules to structure playoff seeding by that kind of thing

Cross is my #1 player in the draft. If we can manage to get him at #6 I'll be thrilled.

Cross has the best feet by far to play LT. Ikem, while a mauler, is very unpolished in pass protection. Neal is in the middle but lacks the mean streak you’d think a guy his size would have.

Cross, Neal and then Ikem for me.

I'm reversed. Ikem, Cross, Neal. I agree Cross is a better pass protector but we can't pass the ball very well and likely won't for a while longer. I'd prefer we just go straight maul, mean and nasty. With our defense and RBs we could win like that. Maybe add another downhill guy into the rotation and we'd have 2 finesse and 2 power backs to mix up. Backfield by committee and replacements for injuries to keep things running. Pun intended.

The Walter football guys compared Cross to Ronnie Stanley. I think out of the tackles the thought on Cross is he’s the most agile and while he may not be a great pass blocker that’s attributed to him needing to bulk up. Idt you’re going to go wrong with either him or Icky at 6. No matter what we should come out of this draft with a stud starting left tackle…..finally.

Agreed.

I'd have no problem with Neal or Ekwonu but Cross is by far my favorite.

Cross is a great pass blocker, the best in this class. It's the run blocking he needs to work on because they didn't do much of it. But yeah, I wouldn't worry about either of these guys. We are so used to poor LT play that whoever is our guy they'll look like a generational Hofer compared to what we're used to seeing.

His age, frame and athleticism will allow him to add 20lbs of muscle easily.   Kid is a beast.  I rank them icky, cross then Neal.  Would be happy with either

pauline seems confident he has a good pulse on what Carolina wants to do. He wrote again yesterday that Cross won’t fall past Carolina, and also hinted that plenty teams have him over Neal. We’ve also seen reports that there’s at least one team that has Cross as their top ranked player in the entire draft, there’s definitely a part of me that wonders if that could be us.

I somewhat suspected that Neal wasn't universally loved as a high caliber prospect.

I doubt we spend a first or 2nd on the qb of the future without bring him in and evaluating his knee or interviewing him.   And please spare me the Wilson anecdote

Who said 1st or 2nd?

We're talking 4th thru 6th round.

    • That's a good one too, there's mineral pills and allll sort of other methods and supplements. I heard one way from a poor guy coaching, his method was drinking pickle juice. Still the proven easy soultion- just drink water.....like my god is that too much to ask??? I just feel this is pros....Its YOUR responsibility to be on field. Most times this is preventable, no excuses.  This missed times hurts his chances to make the team, especially a late 6th rounder on a now deep WR roster.  Now Horn gets to ride the Jstew/funch special bike while WRs are passing him on the depth chart...
    • I had the Tmac is the best/smartest course of action many months ago, I just bought into the rumored Walker talk(not cause I was a fan). I knew there was no fear on the offense side, unless someone wants to explain 35 year old AT as a threat.... No one to dictate coverage or get respect. Hubbard is good, but not to the point of worrying about if he's in the game or not. They needed a legit pass catcher and it had to come from the draft either 1st pick or 2nd. I tried to explain in many threads and posting, not many bought my sales pitch. Dan and company had the same thoughts tho...... I always was a huge Tmac fan, but turka21 just blew away anyone on the topic of Tmac. I let him do all my talking after it was clear he could handle any and all angles with Tmac. He killed it and if not, Id had 100 more posts about why Tamc was the 999999 IQ pick. ____________________________   Dan Morgan, my gods did he have one hellacious Duty to fix the Panthers. Not only were they the least talented, but he didn't have 1st(which was the #1 overall pick) or a early 2nd to aid in this rebuild. Not to mention the cap was not in great shape when you consider the level of talent attached to the contracts. Honestly its NOT even close to being over, he deserves another full season after this year to even get this team above water. I know this feels like my mind could be cloudy with hopuim panther gas, but it does feel and look like the team has improved. You listed off the free agents and with knowing all will not workout, there's still hope that Dan has solved the DL, just like he did with the OL. I mean I watched years and years of hernaiy and gettlegut try to fix OLs and DLs and besides some fuke deals they never did. I mean gettegut used his first two draft picks on DTs in star and KK, and that fixed the DL for the next four years.  Still not to say Im marveled over the moon, but I do feel he's accomplishing one hell of a rebuild in the ultra crazy modern NFL era. *In a short time-line* *without all the draft picks and cap space*. He also had to clean up the Brian Burns and BY situations. You know if BY didn't have those last 9 games, Dan would be finding a new QB on top of rebuilding this swamp mansion in hurricane alley. Then he got the giants to bite on a 8 sack 30 million per guy for 2nd and two 5ths(one future).  You can pick apart the players he picks, but nearly ALL trades the Panthers have won the value. I have been very impressed with that part.....(just wish they had better scouts.....ugh) I am looking forward to this vision, I hope the fans can remain realistic patient. (lololooll)
