Currently on a W4 streak. If we can bunker down on Tuesday, that’s the division. It looks like in all likelihood we’ll be playing Boston if we win Tuesday. Hopefully the Caps can knockout the panthers early but that would be a double edged sword.

Tuesday actually isn't the division for us, a win vs the Rangers or the Devils will seal it for us.

Ya just saying it’s the earliest we can clinch.

Also Rod did not sounds happy about the prospect of going into the playoffs without either starting goalie, but sounded hopeful on Raanta.

I’m liking this Kochetkov kid but to be fair he’s only seen 26-27(I think that’s the right math?) shots from mediocre offenses. The Rangers are going to be a different story. I can’t wait to see him next year though either way. Give him an off-season and camp to learn the system and language. Oh boy.

For now I think they need to run drills with him putting Slavin and Staal or our tallest forward in from of him and getting him used to the net front of the NHL or even just a massive screen. You can tell on at least two of the goalies he didn’t see the puck at all cause he has a tender to look inside for the pass first and he’s gotten caught on the outside both times.

Pyotr is no different than any other rookie coming up. Players are bigger and faster. Shots are harder and the overall speed of the game is quicker.

NY has us on Tue, Montreal on Wed and close with Washington.

I think we own the first 4 of 7 tie breaker scenarios.

Just gotta take care of business.

Can the Canes clinch with just a point Tuesday? The Rangers have a game in hand. If they were to win in OT Tuesday and win their final two games while the Canes lost their final game, the final standings should be:

1. Rangers - 114 points

2. Canes - 113 points

Am I missing something about how the Canes can clinch with a single point, absent the Rangers losing at least one of their final two games?

You're right. They said something about only needing a point in the post game but that math doesn't add up.

The Canes have a 4 point lead on the Rangers. The Rangers can get to 114 points if they win out. If the Canes win one of their last 2 games and finish with 114 points, they win the division based on the tie-breakers.  However, should they tie with 114 (Rangers winning out and Canes losing both), here's how the Canes win the division. ROW- the Canes can't be caught with a 4-game advantage.

Tie-breakers:

1. Points

2. ROW (regulation and OT wins only, shootout wins do not count) 51-47 Canes: Winner

3. Head-to-head season series 2-1 Canes: Winner or tie

4. GF minus GA: Canes +73: Winner

5. Tiebreaker game

You might know the answer to this better than I, If we had to LTIR one of the goalies and the other is out for more than a week or two, does the LTIR give us some cap space to at least pick up a vet?  So we aren’t running two rooks?

I don't believe so.

LTIR means a player must be expected to miss 10 NHL games and 24 days of the season. Now, the rules don't specify what a "season" is, and if the word "season" includes the playoffs. I believe it to mean the regular season.

Even if the Canes used LTIR to put another goalie on the roster, here's the rub. The Canes are $467k under the cap. Andersen's salary is $4.5M. Subtract the cap space from the salary and you have about $4M to go out and get an unemployed goalie. And, you still have to take the cap hit of $4M. Although LTIR allows you to exceed the cap for the purpose of filling the roster, the cap hit remains and, at some point becomes due.

Anyone know of any veteran, unemployed goalies who can sit short term for the next couple months? I don't know of any.
