Sounds just like something this team would do, I mean look at allllll the piss poor QB choices since Rhule got here. Waived Cam for Teddy dishwater, only to bring Cam back mid-season for wasted 6 million deal. Panicked with dishwater and give him 30 million for one season to trade him for 6th. Tried and failed to bring in 4 other QBs, mainly they told the panthers "nah, you guys suck". Gave away 2,4, and 6 for Sam "hella" Darnold.....Panicked AGAIN and during allll this signed PJ walker. The whole =

this board may undervalue the QB position but NFL teams do not. You aren’t trading into the #1 to select the only kind of QB that people on this forum are comfortable with. 

And some will hit…I don’t think anyone of sound mind undervalues the QB position.  It is nearly impossible to find a person that can play QB well in the NFL.  There are 10-15 guys on the planet that can do it.  You keep reaching and you keep trying.  

If you know who the next guy is say it…we are waiting

Trade down of possible. Then take one of Willis, Howell, or Corral. My preference is Howell but I can get talked into one of the others.

This fanbase desperately needs some hope. Whether you like the pick or not, a rookie QB at least provides some intrigue and potential hope. Go ahead and fix the OL. Great. Now you win just enough games to put yourself out of reach of the QBs who might excite you next year. Like Fitterer said, at some point you have to take a swing and you have to keep swinging until you get a hit. It's time to start swinging. Hell, it was time to start swinging last year.

 

 

 

I think the trade down depends on the compensation. Are we trading out of six for a 3? No. I mean I'm skeptical even for a 2. I almost want another one next season depending on how far we go down. If it's past 15 I need another 1. But in the second I would love Howell no doubt.  He is intriguing.  Corral and ridder in the 20s.

This. Look at what the Niners gave up to get up to #3 for a QB. #1 and #2 honestly we're probably practically untouchable.

Of course. I'm trying to figure out who Tepper is going to throw 3 1st in trade next offseason.  The guy they go after in the draft is of little interest at this point.  Whoever it is will not add to the win column this season. 

I'm not ready to believe the Baker and Jimmy G talk just yet. The way I see it there is no middle ground for them next season.  It's win the south or else. If the chosen one (whoever that is) is not capable of doing that I cannot see them trading for either of those two. So what's left?  Pick one of these kids you think you can build around wait for Tepper to throw the farm at his next qb heartthrob.

All the Fhules Gold being pushed up the QB board means you CAN get a QB AND Icky.

It's a good draft, it's just that the prospects are out of order. A smart team can capitalize.

Try like heck to get late in the first or early in the second and a good QB will be there. Package player and picks if need be.

The contending teams are in the bottom of the first. Maybe they may be attracted to someone enough for that guy and a combination of picks.

Strong, Corral, Ridder to name a few. You can have your cake and eat it too.

It's amazing how nearly this entire fanbase has developed a laissez faire attitude toward the ease of positioning oneself to draft a QB in the future. As if that will just work out perfectly. The prospect you want will be guaranteed to be on the board. That's just wildly incorrect. Even if you're sitting at #6 overall, in lost draft classes that prospect you really want isn't gonna be there at that spot. If you want YOUR GUY, you better be sitting at #1 overall.
