I was trying my best to transcribe and provide some extra commentary.  Don't know a ton about Wayne, but that offense seemed to go through Addison.  Kind of reminds me of Bateman when he was in Minny.

Addison is definitely a player, and they also used their tight end a lot.  I just wouldn't say that Pitt's all around talent is "great".  And Addison didn't just show up last year.  He played in 2020 as well.  Could be that the coaching staff utilized what they had in a better way.  And that doesn't mean Pickett will be a good or bad NFL qb, just means he had a better coaching staff last year.   Much like Burrow in his last year at Ohio State.

Yeah it was like the entire offense at Pitt bloomed up. Dug a bit into the coaching and that Whipple sounded like a weird OC.  Just strange how his offense just randomly shot up after being rather meh with pretty much the same guys.

Very valid question. Being unlike all these John Does is a compliment...

Speaking to the football side, it's not just the Pickett bloom up.  Yes, how does a guy who's had a rather poor career as a coach suddenly have what they had? But then you see it happen w/Addison, TEs, they all bloomed up together but under a coach and playbook that didn't.

The big change I also see was the running game also shot up like crazy.  120 pg, 3.4 ypa in 2020 to 150 4.2 in 2021.  And what was the biggest turnover from 2020 to 2021? The IOL

Pickett suddenly didn't have as much pressure which he typically was shaky against.  But thing is, when he got pressure in 2021, he was still shaky.  The advanced stats show it.  He showed it.   He simply had more time to make plays and roll out.

Now does that take away that he had more time to show what he can do? No.  But it also tells me he's not the best under pressure and that's the bust alarm going off.

If any of you remember, guys on this site were telling me Justin Herbert wasn't all that.

They're telling me Trask won't be anything yet at this moment his contract holds more value than anybody in our QB room.

And yes, Carson Strong. Carson is the next Drew Brees. Mark it down. Analytics.

You think those guys (the first three specifically) don't go higher today? The QB position is more vital than ever and height is no longer the huge knock against a QB prospect that it used to be. As a prospect, I still doubt Brady would go in the 1st due to questions about his physical tools but he also wouldn't have been playing in a leather football helmet offense that limited his stats either.

I'm speaking in hindsight though. I was a Brees fan when he was with the Chargers, had IT. Drew was an undersized scrambler coming in who turned into the most precise quick minded pocket passers in history. To become a great QB he had to make that transition, trust the pocket so he became great.

Nothing wrong with drafting a pocket passer who is already advanced at trusting and moving in the pocket and reading and calling plays at the LOS as a junior. THAT is a QB already doing what they're going to teach him to be in the NFL. Maybe HE can become a better runner after having mastered being an accurate pocket passer.

Would these idiot bottom feeder franchises at the top of the draft all the time kinda like our Tepper Panthers constantly pass on Drew Brees? Yes. Mac Jones was a QB who came in and did well for a rookie. The idiot run bottom feeding franchises don't do their homework.

Addison had 600 receiving yards and 4 TDs as a true Freshman in 2020. He's a monster.

Strong 2022

1. I never said Herbert wasn’t all that. I was pro Herbert and on draft day I thought we had a shot at him.

2. Trask won’t be anything. He got carried at Florida. There is no denying that. Solid college quarterback but he lacks fluidity in his movements, he’s slow, and he has one of the weaker arms in the NFL. Trask wouldn’t be playing over Teddy or Darnold either.

3. Carson Strong will not be the next Drew Brees. Stop comparing these college kids to Hall of Famers.

Lol you being high on Herbert wasn’t some crazy, rare take. He got drafted in the top 10 so obviously scouts were high on him as well. Trask is still a question mark and the Drew Brees to Carson Strong is very random. Strong is a statue with a strong arm. His best shot would be more of a Rivers style play IMO.

Rivers had better mobility at the end of his career than Strong does currently and Rivers was immobile. That's real talk.

Strong has the mobility of Leftwich at Marshall when he was playing on one leg being carried to the next LOS by his OL.

I didn't single you out.

People here told me Herbert wasn't worth our pick and Trask wouldn't be anything a bunch of them...

Again, you think doing what Trask did was in any way easy? He earned the starting job. I know you're a Trask expert but I'm looking at his traits also and just like Strong, Trask had to earn everything, take it by the horns and lead AND put up numbers and be efficient and careful with the ball.

Trask and Strong have a very strong drive to win and succeed and both climbed the ladder to do so. Both those guys when given their opportunity will flourish in their will and character first and their gifts second. I'm not just looking at measurables which they both posses, and the stats and elite performances to back it up.

IF I'm wrong why was Trask drafted in the second round, not third, not fourth? I'm not wrong. Trask is bigger and already a better QB than anybody on the Panthers roster and would be an immediate improvement.

Think we could get a second round pick for Sam? Lol.

Strong is better than YOU think. It not a crime. Ease up.
