Definitely  understand  that and that is vital to me too but this team just looks so flat out there on Sundays. We need some type of juice. In an ideal world, you can get both but as long as the team has faith, I'm good. Stoic isn't bad if you got a nice squad built around and good coaching  but we got so many question marks. When coaching looks like it isn't working, we need someone the guys can rally behind. Does that have to be a Quarterback... nope but it does help. Mahomes, Brady, Allen, Rodgers,  Matt Ryan, Herbert, Lamar, Burrow and more are guys you see on the sideline rallying the troops.

Reading between the lines of comments from guys like Shaq Thompson, I think part of the problem might be that a portion of the team just isn't buying what Matt Rhule is selling.

If the people you're trying to lead don't believe in you, it doesn't matter how you deliver your message.

I think that's getting lost in the shuffle.... look at the lost of players I listed... I  dont won't no rah rah that doesn't deliver.... thats pretty obvious. Somehow people think rah rah means a guy that's dancing and hyping with no skill. Each Qb has their own way of speaking up and that's what we need.... Delhomme  was an overachiever... but his rah rah definitely  worked...

Maybe not you, but some fans would be ok with a mediocre QB so long as he had intangibles and they liked him. Many fans now have a "just be better than Sam" mentality. I want nothing less than a highly talented QB who can be our franchise leader for over a decade. The 2023 draft could yield that, but the lesser FA QBs are not enough for me.

Last I remember from Shaq Thompson (as reported by SI) is this:

Following the loss to New Orleans on Sunday, linebacker Shaq Thompson was asked if he felt like Rhule has lost the locker room and was kind of taken off guard by the question.

"I don't know what you're talking about that he [Matt Rhule] lost the locker room and stuff like that. I don't think he lost the locker room at all. People may be frustrated, yeah," Thompson said. "We just got to keep our head up and keep fighting for each other. At the end of the day, I learned from Luke [Keuchly] and TD [Thomas Davis] and the biggest thing is 'Keep Pounding'. Regardless if we're losing, we've got to come out here and keep playing. But this locker room though, there's a lot of guys that come in each and every day regardless win, lose, draw, we are going to come in here and work."

Is there some new news you're referencing (since 1/4/22) from Shaq that contradicts his clear position/statements on the topic?

I'm definitely  tired of mediocre  at the most important  position  in football.  The next year class is definitely  loaded. I often look back on classes and someone definitely  hits their ceiling. I have no clue about this year's class honestly.

I am not sure we have a lot of leaders in the player ranks currently. But we are also a pretty young team so some of that may come with time.

Yeah, this is the problem with young teams.  Hopefully they grow but it’s not surprising.  CMC is probably the closest thing we have to a leader besides Shaq (who had a fuging good year), but CMC is more a lead by example type.  You’d see Luke and guys like Olsen out there bossing people around but I don’t think CMC is that type.

I feel like Shaq is good at managing the D, especially with guys like Chinn out there, but our offense has been lacking energy since Cam left.  I’d take a vocal fullback if that’s what it takes to get a damn leader with some energy on offense
