"Raw." "High ceiling." I heard the same things being said about RGIII. Not encouraging. Especially with our track record of "developing" and protecting QBs.

Who knows how RG3 may have ended up had Shanahan not left him out there on one leg to get his knee obliterated.

Interesting his name comes up. The more recent ones are Mahomes and Allen, but I agree we not the best equipped to develop/mold a young QB.

At this point I've seen Willis compared to a dozen or more pro quarterbacks, and to a man they were all infinitely more successful against a higher level of competition than anything Willis saw.

Basically people just project whoever they want to see him as (regardless of whether there's any real validity to it).

Exactly.  He was transcendent his rookie year pre injury.  And I think Willis has a lot stronger arm than him....but other than that its a good comparison.

I don't think Willis is near the athlete RG3 was and RG3's arm was pretty damn good. I definitely wasn't making that comp. I think RG3 was a much better prospect. I'd be pounding the table for Willis if I thought RG3 was a good comp.

I remember that game well.  It was like Shanahan decided to leave him out there until the ambulance came and got him.

While I am not for owners meddling, even I would have called down to the sidelines at some point and told Shanahan to either get RG3 off the field or I was coming down immediately to get him off the field.

If I remember right, it was the age-old excuse "he didn't tell me he was too hurt to continue."

This guy gives a refreshing take compared to the talking heads Kiper and Todd.  It's always at 6 the panthers take Pickett cause they really need a QB.  Then they will nonchalantly say "he's not worth a top ten pick" or the value is inflated because of past failures trying to address the position.  Fug.  It all sounds like they are saying "panthers suck" they will continue to suck cause Pickett is slightly above average but yeah let's talk about this other team for 8 minutes.

Charlie Campbell is still hearing Pickett at 6. He has an inside source and has called the last 4 picks correctly + also said the Panthers didn't like Slater last year before the draft despite looking for a LT

He is saying Rhule will convince them on Pickett because if he plays well it will save his job (I really hope this isn't the case)

    • Shaq tore his achilles. I repeat, torn achilles. 10 year vet that didn't make it out of September two years running.  I think he deserves to stick around and prove it but I would not be counting on him being the player he was.
