Stupid question regarding e-tickets!

so ya, I'm an idiot and I can admit that!

I have never dealt with e-tickets before. I have bought e-tickets and have been sent an email with the attached pdf.

1. At what point are these tickets active or deactive?

2. Can I re-sell them and just forward the email to the new buyer?

3. What controls are in place to prevent me from doing this to three different people?
