How dangerous is Willis as a runner? What makes him special?

I feel like people seem to underrate Willis's ability as a runner... I see lazy comparisons to Johnny football guys who run a 4.7. People have a hard to comparing Willis to a guy because we really have never seen a guy with his blend of skills. This writer has him top 5 all-time as a runner from the position. If your that good at something that makes you special.

He's not Vick or Jackson elite speed, but he's faster than Josh allen and Russell Wilson. He runs with a power neither of those guys can come close 2(vick and jackson).Willis was second in broken tackles last season with legs like tree trunks its not hard to see why.

Yes, since 2020. Howell was literally told by the staff NOT to run prior to this season because they didn't have a backup on the roster they felt comfortable with.

I mean Howell isn't exactly immobile himself I don't think..  he definitely deserves to run a few rpos and options

Against teams named Campbell, UNT and ULM.  Hmmmm.

As for Willis, I think he is a good runner. Nothing close to Vick or Lamar. Basically a Cam style runner but a LOT smaller. Not sure how that's gonna work out. I think he has similar speed to Cam.

Defensive backs cringed at the idea of having to tackle cam in the open field.  they will however pray to the gods that they get a clean shot on willis

Yeah, it was Cam's physicality and underrated agility much more so than pure speed that made him so effective as a runner.

I bet Teddy Bridgewater's breakdown looked just like this coming out of Louisville.

Valid. Nobody's gonna be afraid of hitting Willis.

I think it was against Washington his rookie year where cam broke off and turned the corner and the the corner just tried to get low and made himself a ball and cam just went around him and then laughed at him at the end of the play.  The corner wanted no part in initiating contact with him.

He's about the same weight and an inch or two taller than Jonathan Taylor/Chubb, bigger than CMC, has like 20 pounds on Chuba

    • The other draft picks have turned out pretty well. Brooks will too.
    • I'm still not touching Hunter He again said the other day that he plans on playing both sides of the ball in the NFL.  If he is allowed to do that, he won't be as good on either side as his potential and he's going to have serious injury issues and have a short career.  If he's not allowed to do it, I think he's going to become a problem when the team isn't winning as he's going to feel him not being used on both sides of the ball is why. He's being coddled in that environment with Deion and I think it's doing a disservice to him to prepare him for life in the NFL where your coach isn't a 2nd father to you, to where you can just walk into his locker room and steal his shoes like Hunter does to Deion.
    • He’s a tad behind them. Around 15ish of 32 starters in the league. He’s well ahead of a lot of guys. Tua, Bryce, Cousins (present), Rodgers (current), Devito/Jones, Minshew, Russ (current), Watson, Smith, Carr, T Laws deep ball is weak as poo IMO, there’s plenty. And it’s not like everyone is ripping 60+ers. The key component is if you can rip and maintain velocity of the 30-40 yarders which he does super well. Legit every report out there from Brugler to PFF to PFN document him as good/above average arm strength.  Eye test tells me it’s pretty much that as well, slightly above average.
