as much as i would like a QB that comes from a pro-style offense, i don't consider it a necessity. i do know that i wouldn't want the guy coming in and starting right away like manning, ryan, flacco all did but for the long term....yeah, i think it would be ok if he was smart.

i don't think brady was in a pro style offense, same with brees, rivers, schaub, or big ben. if we have a QB that is only really comfortable in the shotgun or spends most of his time there...i don't really have a problem. peyton and brady spend a lot of time in it.

point it, if he is intelligent and young enough....he can learn about reading defenses. he can learn a playbook. if he is given some time to carry a clipboard, he can have time to learn a good deal.

if we need him earlier, then build the offense around his particular skill set. that's what we need to do anyway. find someone that is talented and build the offense around him. we'll have to run a lot anyway just to help out the rookie. most of the time a rookie is given the starting job at QB you have to run 500+ times anyway. that shouldn't be an issue.

i just want someone that is strong willed, has some good leadership skills, good decision making abilities, and is accurate. the rest of the stuff we can work around.

i have no problem with the idea of pike at all.

I looked at tape on Bradford(my number one), McCoy, Pike, Claussen. They all throw almost exclusively from the shot gun. I'm not sure how you predict from watching clips on line who will be great and who won't. I think accuracy/calm are the most important characteristics for a QB. Bradford can throw out patterns hard and accurate better than any in my opinion. I'm not too worried about his shoulder, he considered not having surgery so I don't think it is too serious. I'm afraid none of these guys will fall to our 1st pick though. We have to figure out how to get back into the first round.

I rather stay in the 2nd and get whoever falls to us.

Brady was not in a true pro style O.

Rivers most def was, he ran a true pro O in college, as did Palmer.
