I’m not even sure the NFL is worth watching anymore. All it does is add air time which adds ratings, or so the league things. Teams are about to get cutthroat, honestly I don’t see an issue with it. Probably still not worth watching though.

BS, it's still not fair.. now the team with the ball 2nd can just go for all 4th downs and play way looser then the team that gets the ball 1st. How is that fair? TD wins was the best way, it still made playing defense important.

Yeah, this was the right move. Needs to be in the regular season, too.

The whole "teams have to play defense" argument would hold water if the rules didn't favor the offense so heavily. The old way would have worked for the 1973 Bears, but it's a scoring league now and this rule needs to reflect that reality.

I am also thinking how this new rule could make games more exciting. Think about last year Chiefs go down and score and then the Bills go down and score and instead of kicking a field goal they opt for 2 or the Chiefs do the same forcing the Bills to go for 2 on their possession.
I see nothing but positives from this rule change.

    • The Athletic FS had a Panthers fan write in about Mykel vs Jalon. Derrick K was surprisingly in favor of Mykel but gave a pretty compelling argument. You’re getting a baseline great run defender with some nice pass rush potential. You’re not getting the hyper athletic, violent, burst off the snap type, but he’s a grinder who can maintain a great level of play throughout a game. He’s the ideal type to eventually have paired with the more peppy/athletic edge rusher. No one says to avoid a 1B just because you don’t have or can’t find a 1A. And who knows, he could still become a double digit sack guy. 86” wingspan is monster. With Jalon, you’re using him as an EDGE. So you’re banking him fitting a super rare spot, that only Parsons has really followed through at. Myles Jack and others just didn’t work out as well. They mentioned you may just be getting a shorter Luvu-plus rather than a Parsons-lite.  Mykel at 8 will not surprise me in the least, and it could be a solid move.
    • I thought you said he never made use of a TE in his systems before... seems like from your post that he did. Just sayin'...
    • Oh, I'm not giving up on him, and I hope he grows and grows into a great TE, but he is far from dominant on the field right now. Pair him up with another young, but dominant TE and it opens a world of opportunities for our offense, both in the passing and rushing game. We would move more into the dictating our game to the other team than having their defense ram what they wanted to down our throats. We need hitters on offense. We need multi-role guys on the field. And we need some punch in the now before Thielen finally gets caught by Father Time.
