That slow ass delivery tho...

Too much is made of it because almost all of his highlights reels are full of deep balls. When he's not slinging it 40+ yards his delivery looks pretty typical.

Not exceptionally quick but not alarmingly slow either, just pretty typical

What? You mean he can just flick it 60 yards down the field?? Honestly his throwing motion is fine. I like how he is already working on improving his footwork. Seems like a practice/training work horse like Drew Brees was.

I disagree.

It's just bad.

Watch Pickett, Willis, or Corral throw. As soon as they make the decision, the ball comes out.

With Howell, he makes the decision, has to tap the ball, then has a long over the top delivery. He will get read by good CBs in the NFL early and often.

We'll see. My money is on Howell out of this class. Easy.

This is clearly a concern with Howell.  I like Howell but can’t deny this fact

nah im just calling out homerism

pickett won the ACC with much less talented players. Ill give it to UNC..  they attract a lot of good recruits.

he underwhelmed. If hes such a great QB he should have elevated his team.

not saying we should get pickett either

but howell is a small, long releasing QB thats going to get ate up in the NFL.  he also doesnt have that elevating it factor

im sorry but only UNC fans think hes the best in the draft. Everyone else has him at 4 or 5

Last years second and third picks would’ve rode the bench at Carolina.

If Pickett tapped the ball, it would fall out of his tiny hands… seriously though you should watch Brady throw.

The people who are calling Howell a loser--a bust--are talking out of their asses.  He was in a bad situation last year and his numbers did not drop off that much, compared to his peers who were in good situations (Ole Miss, Liberty, Pitt)--so in a way, we are comparing Apples and Oranges.  Howell did not suddenly get bad--he reinvented himself to adapt to a lack of talent.  Having played on winning and losing teams, I can tell you that I was always better on the winning teams.  But some want to call him a hack because they do not understand the game as much as they think.

I do not think these QBs this year are that far off from last year's group-they simply do not have the hype.   In 10 years, you might still be watching Willis, Pickett, and Corral etc. on TV when you have to Google names like Lance, Wilson and Fields to remember them.  It is possible.

Howell would make me feel better if we traded back.  The losing season and his numbers are not first round materials, but his skills are--so if you can get him and put him in a good situation, I think he can do well in time.

If you want to legitimately criticize Howell, you should criticize the fact (along with Corral) that he ran a lot of RPO plays.  That means you have one read and if it is not open, you run the ball.  No three reads and then dump to the outlet.  His release is not as quick as Pickett or Corral's, but it is as quick as Willis' release. Those are legitimate, specific, REASONS for concerns over him--not "Well, the Tar Heels had a bad year and Howell sucks."  Might as well write "idiot" on your forehead with a Sharpie.

Tom Brady has one of the most mechanically sound throwing motions of all time. No wasted time/energy in anything he does. It's perfect.

Howell, not so much.
