I agree with latter statement. He still has a year left on his deal, so if we traded for him we'd only be on the hook for the last year of his rookie deal. If we acquired Baker, the 2022 would be his prove it season.

I can see why they’d ask for that. But teams at the end of the 1st have QBs and teams at the top aren’t giving up a top 12 pick for him. 
 

I actually think he could be good with our cast around him. Frees us up to take an OT with #6. I wouldn’t hate it.

If they trade our 1st round pick in 2023 for Baker then I am leaving the forum until Rhule is fired. If they trade our 2022 1st round pick then I'll be mad, but I'll stick around.

"Preliminary talks" tend to just be due diligence. Unless you hear more than that, there may not be much to it.

Would be nice to see the actual article, but I'm guessing the Browns are calling other teams, not the other way around considering one team wanted a pick to take Mayfield's cap hit on. Same way we'd have to send a pick with Darnold to get rid of him.
