I've gotta jump in on this mess.

1. I don't want to draft Pickett at 6, but I'd gladly take him in the teens if we trade back.

2. I believe Pickett will have a Mac Jones type rookie year where he plays the best of all the rookie QBs

3. The hand size thing is hilarious to me. Who cares if he has small hands if he showed he can read a defense, make good decisions, and make accurate passes? I feel like the last few seasons should have hammered in that concept to our fanbase by now

4. The NFL ball and college ball are the same circumference. So it's hilarious that people are making the point that he's going to struggle throwing an NFL ball.

- Pros: 11 to 11.25" length, 28" circumference

- College: 10.5 to 11.5" length, 28" circumference

5. He's shown the ability to learn and improve while in college, so the fumbles can be avoided with proper two-hands on the ball technique while in the pocket.

That is all.

The pro ball is a larger circumference and length.

Secondly the pro ball is 100%leather. College balls can be an ultra tacky synthetic material (not only grippier but doesn't get as heavy in rain)

not that uncommon, use different techniques and you can get your hand bigger over a few months. Josh Allen did it and I'm sure there are others that have managed to do the same..so probably not that uncommon actually.

I get why people don't want Pickett, but the hate on him is a bit off to me. If we are taking a QB at 6, I'd prefer Willis for the upside/homerun vs. conservative/low ceiling aspect.

That being said, I can make as many arguments as why to NOT take Willis as I can to not taking Pickett.

Hot take - I'd prefer Pickett/Willis over Mac Jones.

The only coach that travelled to the pro day of course.

If he didn't go, we'd have people on this board bitching about Rhule not doing anything but sit in his office. He's gonna get poo on no matter what he does... But this was the right thing to do for Rhule.

    • so the most accurate mocker there is currently and the the guy who has gotten the panthers pick twice are both calling Walker here at 8?  starting to think maybe we're getting Walker.
    • Whatever. I am so ready to not see any more mock drafts until there is a draft worth talking about in the 1st. Even the top 2 guys in this draft are underwhelming in comparison.
    • I'm having a hell of a time trying to make projections for Carolina due to the giant question mark that is Jacksonville. Looking over their roster, they're a prime candidate to trade back. Most of the top prospects are going to be at positions they've already made investments in and are getting returns on: RB (Jeanty) - Travis Etienne (2021 1st), Tank Bigsby (2023 3rd) OT (Membou) - Walker Little (2021 2nd), Anton Harrison (2023 1st) TE (Warren) - Brenton Strange (2023 2nd) DT (Graham) - Davon Hamilton (2020 3rd), Maason Smith (2024 2nd), Jordan Jefferson (2024 4th), Arik Armstead LB (Walker) - Foyesade Oluokun, Devin Lloyd (2022 1st), Chad Muma (2022 3rd), Ventrell Miller (2023 4th) EDGE (Walker) - Travon Walker (2022 1st), Josh Hines-Allen (2019 1st) Looking at the investments already made, if the Jags were too go with one of those positions I could see them leaning towards a rotational edge rusher or an upgrade at tight end for TLaw. Their most pressing need (imo) is at CB. I could also see them looking to go WR as well, but all scenarios point to the optimal outcome for the Jags to be move back, acquire more draft capital, and take the best prospect rather than the most needed position. This spirals a bit when I start to try and figure out what Carolina will do. If Warren or Graham falls to them they will have to determine whether or not they're better off passing on them and getting extra depth from this class. Trying to read the tea leaves, I think that they've made peace with that and are willing to move back and look to take either the best SLB or WLB available (Mykel Williams or Donovan Ezeiruaku, imo).
