Atlanta was the only team he personally asked to reach out to that didn’t show interest initially. Wouldn’t have mattered.

He was never coming here.  He didn’t choose us as one of his choices a year ago, and once Atlanta joined it was already done.  We’ve been an afterthought in his mind from the beginning

I agree with most in here that he was just using us as leverage but in reality, any team giving up so much to trade for him shouldn't be scared of guaranteeing year 3 & 4 since you are already committing so much to get him.  You aren't likely to cut him after giving up 3 first rd picks imo.
