Looks like they didn't add void years but I think next years cap hit for Robby went up. It's now saying his 23 hit is almost $22M, I hope thats a typo

I saw that. Hurt my soul. Pretty much guarantees Robby is here for the next 2 years and we're almost certainly not trading him unless someone parts with like a 2nd rounder.

This move feels like a head scratcher to me. This is one I would have steered away from. Robbys contract actually doesn't look that bad after seeing some of the nonsense getting tossed around in FA right now and we had an easy out in case he further regressed this season. Odd move for sure.

This means he is back for 2022

From what I am hearing Baker might be able to be obtained for a 2 that could turn into a 1.
if we could offer the 2023 2 (or 1), and maybe dump Darnold as part of it - we have the makings of a pretty darn good offense

I really hope not. Baker isn't worth a 1st and he wants out of Cleveland. No need for us to give away picks to save them from their own stupidity.

Why would the players want to stop it. They get their salary right now instead of 17 checks during the season. Everyone has the same rules.

Players would stop without hesitation if it was just fully guaranteed contracts

NFL salary cap structure is so convoluted and a mess, NBA is so simple. It is incredibly hard to have trades with players in the NFL and it shouldn't be.

They were going to cut a guy in Anderson who had $8M in guaranteed salary this year? lol

Trade or restructure were the only options.

Probably not this year, but definitely next year. Probably still will. The new staff will just have to eat the hit that shouldn't have existed.

But it’s not. And won’t be. So why would they not want their money early and alll at once.

And the NFL has the best system. There are no loopholes. The rules are the same for every team. Paying 53 players is just much more complicated than 12.

I don't see Cleveland trading Mayfield at this point unless he's truly going to refuse to play. They're still a competitive team, though the AFC is even more stacked now, and there's no need to blow it up for a rookie QB and go back into that purgatory. They screwed the pooch with how they've handled some things but if they can still salvage it, they should.

That said, I'd take Mayfield for that deal, but the wild card is just how much Rhule will suck this year. Would be bad to give away a Cam-esque pick a la Hurney's attempted trade up for Clausen back in the day.

No way I'd give a 2 that could to turn into a 1. That's giving away our top 5 pick next year.

Especially with the Packers just losing Adams, Robby had some trade value as it was. I can't believe Robby's little camp holdout turned into a $22M 2023 cap hit. Now it's a $9M dead cap if we cut him next year instead of $3M. Not sure it's worth it for an extra $5M to spend in a lame duck year
