That's just not true. But it is clear that you, and many fans in general, don't have the patience to see beyond 2 years.

It is true. Prove I'm wrong. The notion that it takes years to build a winner is a myth.

Is the goal to win a Superbowl? How many teams have won it in the last 30 years in more than 4 years after hiring their head coach? It's going to be a really short list.

Typically it's done within 3 years and in occasion 4. Those teams were winning within 2 years.

Show me a list of teams who became consistent winners after several years of losing using the same coach.

We should have seen a lot of progress between year one and two. Did we see it? No.

No. I don't have patience for a plan that goes beyond 2 or 3 years to build a winner because it just isn't warranted.

Ok and this IS Rhule's third season that hasn't even started yet.

Two guys right off the top of my head that are good examples of 3rd year turn around:

Pete Carroll with the Seahawks: 7-9, 7-9, before an 11-5 season

Zac Taylor with the Bengals: 2-14, 4-11, before a 10-7 season and Super Bowl appearance

If Rhule stays stagnant or even regresses in year 3? Ok, fire him.

Supposedly Watson wanted the Panthers to guarantee years three and four and Panthers didn’t want to. This could be the only thing that kept him from Charlotte.

I dont believe that for a second.

The way Tepper was fawning over him the entire contract would have been guaranteed.

What kept him from Charlotte is what Tepper has allowed us to become since he purchased the team.

there really isn’t anything to suggest that it was Matt rhule specifically that drove them away

Yup.  The team's performance and market probably play bigger roles.

Just one more "I hate Rhule" thread.  Its sad really.    Rhule is here next year people.

Grow up and get over it.

sheesh

He is here for this season, that does not mean we have to like him. Half of the roster probably does not like him.

There's a difference between not liking him and posting thread after thread, post after post saying the same crap over and over.

Im only answering your question here, so dont shoot the messenger.... Last 20 years...

1. Sean McVay - won superbowl his 4th year with Rams
2. Andy Reid - won superbowl his 6th year with Chiefs

3. John Harbaugh - won superbowl his 5th year

4. Tom Coughlin - won super bowl his 8th year

5. Tony Dungy - won super bowl his 5th year

6. Mike McCarthy -  won super bowl his 6th year

7. Billl Cowher  - won super bowl his 15th year

The rest are:
1. Bill B (year 3)
2. Bruce Arians (year 2)
3. Pete Carroll (year 3)

4. Jim Caldwell (year 1 but we know this story)

5. Mike Tomlin (year 2)

6. Gruden (year 1)

7. Sean Payton (year 3)

8. Doug Pederson (year 2)

So its not really a short list.... its actually more often than you think in the 20year sample size provided above... If you remove Tom Brady from the equation the bottom list gets pretty short.

The wildest part about the above..... there is no difference really in the early winning coach count vs the late winning coach count. Majority of that list are still in the league as HC....

Taylor didn't have full control like Rhule does.

Carroll did, but he also had extensive NFL experience, an infinitely superior college record and better results in his first two seasons.

You have to earn the benefit of a doubt. Rhule hasn't done that.

We've already tried reasoning, that didn't work. We're on shame now, seems he has none.

He's have to do much better than just a winning season. Deep run in the playoffs or he's gone.

I mean there has to be big time improvement. I just don't see it happening. Not with this crew. Not with this team. They have to get a QB that performs THIS year. No time to develop. It needs to be a real and quick turnaround. You think Rhule can pull that off?

Chemistry with the new guys on his coaching staff is gonna be a question too.

Rhule isn't used to not having "his guys". How's he going to react if someone tells him he's straight up wrong?
