The same people that don’t want Willis wouldn’t have wanted Allen.

Very similar situations with what was around them and while neither had elite numbers (especially Allen) both have elite talent and physical traits.

This is an exhausted and incorrect take.

Josh Allen is 6'5

Malik Willis is barely 6'

They both don't have elite physical traits. Willis and Allen have completely different frames and upsides.

It’s not an incorrect take, the mobile QB has made size irrelevant. It’s more about how intelligent a player is. Size was always used to shame smaller QB’s by saying that they wouldn’t be able to see over the LOS. The way football is played now makes that irrelevant, it’s all about limiting hits.

Cam is a physical specimen and his body gave up on him. Russell Wilson is 5’11” and still playing at a high level.

With that in mind, their frames have literally nothing to do with it. They both have rocket arms, they both came from small schools, both are very mobile. The only difference is their bodies which I just pointed out above is irrelevant.

Nice try though.

spoilers: the same people who never want a QB will never want a QB

they live under the delusion of the perfect storm hitting us, just one year away, annually.

”let’s build an elite roster and get the 1st pick in the draft!”

It’s a fundamentally broken approach that, at best, will leave the team in Titans territory, good enough to pick 20 each season, but never good enough to compete for a Championship-and for some of them, this is okay, as long as the team is CHEWING CLOCK AND POUNDING ROCKS.

this time last year there was a desperate push to just wait one more year, it’s a strong QB class next year, just wait, get hog mollies, get a bellcow back, get a CEREBRAL linebacker, just wait, get Howell or Ridder or Rattler next year

here we are. Same posters.

it’s not about the players.

But it isn't irrelevant. Russell Wilson is an exception. There are so many more examples to support the smaller framed QB will fail. Nice try though...

It took 2 seasons of planning and coaching to get Allen to where he is today. Do you see rhule having that much time and having the ability to develop him?

Almost every elite QB is an “exception” in some way or a rare talent that the stars will line up for like Cam/Luck. Tom Brady was a 6th round pick, Russ was a 3rd and too short, Allen was a raw prospect with bad college numbers, Mahomes was a system QB, Burrow was a one year wonder, Herbert was disappointing at Oregon, Jackson was too small to run like he did in college. IF you land an elite QB, it would more than likely be an exception. They all have risks.

Most QBs struggle their rookie year. It’s just part of the process. There are always exceptions, but even last year’s loaded class struggled as a whole. 2 years to get a QB to elite play should be expected…

    • Tetairoa McMillan.   The last 28 1st overall picks were either a QB, DE, or OT. Seeing as I don't think we'd take an OT in the 1st and give up on Ickey as an LT yet and there doesn't seem to be a clear overall #1 type of QB or DE pick this year, it very well could be a non conventional #1 overall this year, at least in regards from the last almost 3 decades of drafts. If we didn't have Horn, I'd be more open to Hunter as a CB at #1, but we have him so another CB wouldn't be how I'd use a #1 pick.  And as much as I love Legette, if we have SB contending aspirations, I don't think Legette is a #1 on a team like that, but he damn sure is an elite #2 on a team like that.  He's more of the Smith/Higgins/Waddle to Brown/Chase/Hill (in terms of role/impact, not style of play of course). T-Mac is going to be the top ranked WR on every team's board in the end.  He is going to be a true outside #1 WR who is viewed as a consensus Top 5 WR in the game by his second contract in the same way guys like Jefferson and Chase have done.  His height combined with his speed, athleticism, and hands are near impossible to find all in one player, there is a reason his generally used comp is Mike Evans (although as he's not as thick, I personally see him more as an AJ Green). Yes, as an Arizona alum I've admitted to having bias towards the player to begin with.  But he's also someone very widely being put into the Top 5 in mock drafts lately and most of them have him as the first non QB offensive player being taken, so it's not really THAT much of a homer pick on my part anyways. If a QB or DE truly separate themselves as being a can't miss prospect come draft day, I'm open to that discussion, but until then, or if it doesn't happen, T-Mac is my pick 100 times out of 100.
